Stoll postgame quotes (April 15)

Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts..

(on Jonathan Quick’s game…)
STOLL: “They got a lot of rubber at Quickie, but every good team has a really good goaltender, and it’s no different for us.’’

(on the second-period sequence after a Kings penalty kill…)

STOLL: “The fire drill was on there, for sure. We killed that penalty, and they were coming at us. We got an icing. Just to get out of that little sequence was huge. Quickie was huge all night. He made big saves everywhere. He was all over the crease, all over the net. Give him a lot of credit tonight.’’

(on being out of sync offensively early…)
STOLL: “A little bit, yeah. We didn’t create much. Shots were down. Scoring chances, definitely. Just getting those loose pucks on the forecheck, our forecheck wasn’t very good. We’ve got to get better.’’

(on the Kings’ confidence with Quick in net in a tight game…)

STOLL: “We know we’ve been there plenty of times before, and he’s been there with us. We just have that feeling with him, him with us. It’s just a battle. We got out there and we battle our butts off for him, and he does for us, and we know he’s going to make big saves when he needs to, and he did tonight. We need to be better in front of him, for sure.’’

(on leading 3-0 in the series, with two days off coming up…)
STOLL: “We’ve just got to stay composed, even-keel for sure, just take it one day here. Take care of ourselves, take care of our bodies, get some food in us, get a lot of water and get back to practice.’’

(on Dustin Brown’s game…)
STOLL: “Again, he was huge. He scores the goal. He’s hitting everything that moves. It’s playoff hockey from our leader.’’

    @tornado12,

The King have only been up in a series 2-0 once. Their inaugural season. And lost. So, no, they haven’t swept a team before. And they haven’t won anything yet, let alone a sweep.

@KingsNewsDaily (formerly wavesinair), True. Just excited I guess. But the Canucks have to be demoralized a bit after that effort and still coming up shotended.

@tornado12, They swept a best two out of three series, that was another time they won first two games. They have won three games to start a series.

No #8 seed has ever swept a #1 seed in all the time since they adopted the new playoff system (since 1999)… NEVER!
One day to rest, one day to fine tune, and then one more night of FOCUS.

I usually sit in 115 but I’m in Texas. Watched every minute and this was the best goaltending I have ever seen!!!! Quick is in a zone that can take us to the cup. But we must be able to put more pressure on better teams with more than 5 shots in a period. I can’t wait to be back in Calif for round 2!!

    [Reply]

    tornado12 Reply:

@Wheels56, There aren’t many better teams than the president trophy winners! That said, I feel after the kings first PP they let it more even but the Canucks threw the kitchen sink at us and still lost. Gotta be frustrating for them

    [Reply]

    Wheels56 Reply:

@tornado12, Inderstood. By better I am referring to those teams moving forward to the next round. Those teams are either jelling now or on a hot streak like us. But a team in the east like the flyers is putting 20 goals in 3 games. Our defense is way better than the Pens, but I don’t see us shutting out a team like the Flyers thus the need to keep pressure on their net.

    [Reply]

    tornado12 Reply:

@Wheels56, Agreed. But the kings are finding ways to win games in a variety of ways which is what is needed to (dare I say) win it all!

  12. Duncanz says:

Great answers to those questions, Stolly.
Definitely one of our more eloquent interviewees, for sure.

They had to ice it at the end of that crazy Canucks shift. Huge props to DSutter for calling that timeout. We needed to regroup and give the guys a breather in a big way.

from what I have read about the Vancouver goaliies they are supposed to be really good at stopping and holding shots that are down low.Maybe Stoll and others need to consciously elevate shots to chest high to try for more rebounds in game 4.Just a thought,as any advantage should be expoited.GO KINGS,GO!!
