Quick postgame quotes (April 15)

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…)

(on the game…)
QUICK: “I believe their game plan was to get a lot of bodies to the net, try to take away my eyes. They did a pretty good job of that. I was fortunate a lot of times that the puck didn’t get through. It was a huge team effort there. We battled for 60 minutes, hard, and got one late there that was huge.”

(on getting a playoff win on home ice…)
QUICK: “It was excellent. If you look at past playoffs, we haven’t fared as well at home so it was great to get everything moving in the right direction on home ice here tonight.”

(on the Kings’ ability to block shots…)
QUICK: “That’s what I was saying earlier, not a lot of pucks got through on the ones I was unable to see. Guys sacrificing all over the ice and making sure they weren’t getting through. They’ve been doing it all year and they did a great job tonight. That’s something that everybody expects out of each other and it’s something they’ve done really well.”

(sarcasm alert): Man we really overplayed Quick this year. He really looks tired out there. He can’t win close games in the 3rd.

    CB14 Reply:

@Shakes, You forgot: “Bernier will be better if given the chance to play.” and “The Kings can’t win a playoff series with Quick in net.” LOL

@CB14, or or or “we need Westy to be physical out there”. And this is why us fans aren’t coaches (me included) – thank god for that.

Hahaha CB NAILED that one…come July-Aug. when we’re all bored, tired from cup parades :) , and missing hockey we’ll all say dumb things again.

    Dominick (defrim65) Reply:

@Shakes, Yep! Those last 2 games against San Joser were just further proof he isn’t the goalie to carry us into the playoffs because he is a choker.

    puck73 Reply:

@Dominick (defrim65), Bernier is more technically sound. Eventually his talent will wear Quick down….Baaaahaahaaaa!

    CB14 Reply:

@ddc, It’s called sarcasm, you should look up what it means.

    Dominick (defrim65) Reply:

@ddc, Yes that was sarcasm. I was too lazy to add the font like Shakes did. Stick around a while, and you’ll catch on.

    Duncanz Reply:

@ddc, You know he’s really a CBJ fan who comes on here regularly to taunt us about stealing a future Norris winner from right under our noses!
He is totally contumacious, and an emperor in raggedy clothes around here most times..

    ddc Reply:

    @Dominick (defrim65),

then my apologies… it’s been the never ending JB trolling on this site that has limited my frequency in visiting… i enjoy rich’s articles, but try to no longer read the comments… evidently it’s best for me to keep it that way…

    Dominick (defrim65) Reply:

    @ddc,
No worries mate! I find that Sarcasm, and mockery work best over anger, and frustration, but even I find myself frustrated at times. It is hard to know who is actually trolling, and who is just having fun with them.

Trolls are easy to spot, but misguided Kings fans can be harder to address, because trolls don’t stick around long.

Unless your name is Dunca…….Oh wait…..Duncanz is just Waggish, and facetious, and his garrulous sense of humor leaves us gasping for air here in Columbus.

  7. King John says:

Usually in the past the Kings have been the ones that play hard against better teams but encounter a hot goalie and have lots of near misses and then end up losing when the other team somehow gets a goal. This time it’s been the opposite: We played like the better team the first two games, and then now when we’re off, we have the hot goalie, the other team can’t score, and we get the break with a goal. It feels good to somehow get the job done to be on the other side—the winner side.

@King John, Yes, the winner side! :-)

  12. Quick owns 7 Kings goaltending records. He’s got a 138 career wins, and is within striking distance of Rogie Vachons 171. With a good run this playoffs, he could very well become the all time winningest goaltender to ever wear the Kings crest by next season. Ironically this is the same season he will be up for a new contract, and we could lose him within sight of that record.

What a travesty this would be. Hope to see this guy retire in a Kings uniform, and here’s to a long playoff run this season. Go Quick! Go Kings!

it’s critical that quick is re-signed.

a previous post said how nice to FINALLY be a team that can play a sub-par game and win with brilliant goaltending.

i wasn’t around to watch rogie, but my god… after upwards of twenty years of hrudey, storr, cechmanek, potvin, labarbera, i mean… i’ll stop.

but FINALLY. a true backstop. best we’ve had in a generation.

    Vezina.

Out-freaking-standing. From the premier seats PR6, I had a great look at Quick all night. That was the most focused i have EVER seen him play. He was reading plays before they developed and was just in the game from first puck drop to the end. Brilliant performance and the Canucks we’re frustrated.

Vancouver really dominated play the first 2 periods. They didn’t keep their composure and lost because of it. Quick was in full control. A thing of beauty.

Quick is right though, even though guys were scrambling at times, they we’re laying out to block shots like crazy. Great team effort!

    [Reply]

    Jadedtool Reply:

@Cynic, I agree, I was in PR5 and was blown away at his focus all game long. I’m glad the players finally dug deep. They seemed lethargic in the first 2 periods but came around. Kinda like the fans. The fans seemed louder in between periods than they were during play. Once Cartman came around, everyone was fired up until the end. One game at a time boys!!
