Saturday skate update

After a brief skate today, Brad Richardson said he felt better than he expected to — following his appendectomy on Monday — but it doesn’t seem likely that Richardson will play tomorrow. He said he is scheduled to see a doctor again on Monday, but he’s also getting good treatment at home. His mother, Jan, was visiting this week. She’s a nurse and told Richardson to go to the doctor, because she believed be was having issues with his appendix.

Kyle Clifford, officially listed with an upper-body injury, didn’t skate today and isn’t expected to play tomorrow. Darryl Sutter offered no further update.

Lots of talk today about the kings not being overconfident and about “hitting the reset button” at home, particularly given the Kings’ struggles at home in the playoffs in the last two years. More notes and quotes to come…

@Sandy, Third game is pivotal. If the Kings win, they’ve got a commanding 3-0 lead. If Vancouver wins, its a whole new series and we have to return to BC to win the series. The Kings are wise enough (coach and veterans) to play the same way. But I think Vancouver will change things up and put Schneider in the net. WHole new game, whole new focus…that could change the style of the play, etc. The Kings have to bear down, play smart defensively and be opportunistic with the puck when they have a chance. I’d hate to say it…but I hope the Kings don’t take unnecessary penalties-even though we’ve been great on the PK. Quick has to play the best he’s every played to win game 3. Vancouver will play like its an elimination game…because in a sense, it is for them. Game 3 could decide this series!! Go Kings GO!

Love the attitude of the team this postseason. They’re keeping their focus on the game at hand. Celebrate for a few minutes after each win and then reset for the next game as if it were Game 7. This team has matured emotionally, and it’s showing up on and off the ice. Go Kings!

ALthough I still would have preferred him taking a Time out in the 1st period…..when the Kings were dead tired on a face-off, and we got scored on. But I credit Sutter with keeping them steady and focused.

Is it game time Sunday yet, wow don’t want the weekend to go by but geez lets get it going.

When we beat the Canucks Sunday they will look whipped for sure. I just cannot stand the Sedin’s twins, especially Kesler and more so Burrow’s. Get the fires going in Vancouver barrel people you will need them soon.

  14. I actually don’t think overconfidence is an issue at all. That’s the Canucks problem. It has been (and will continue to be) a lack of killer instinct for the Kings. And until they can close the door on a team, they won’t be showing too much confidence, they’ll be showing too little.

    BigFatKingsFan Reply:

@Harty, They re-seed based on record after each round. So we’re either getting St Louis, or if San Jose beats them, the winner of Detroit vs Nashville.

    [Reply]

    bbb7 Reply:

@BigFatKingsFan, I believe Phoenix is considered the #3 seed throughout the western conference playoffs regardless of record, so they would be top seed in the 2nd round if Vanc and St Louis both lose.

    Chard Reply:

@BigFatKingsFan, Phoenix is a higher seed (#3) than either Nashville (#4) or Detroit (#5). So we would face the Coyotes should the Blues fall to the Sharks.
