Brown postgame quotes (April 13)

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on scoring two shorthanded goals…)
BROWN: “They’re huge goals. Special teams is a big part of playoff hockey. It’s not too often that you’re going to see two shorthanded goals like that. The first one is just Kopi being a world-class player.’’

(on whether he scored the third goal…)
BROWN: “I honestly don’t know. At first, I thought I got it, and then on the replay, I don’t know if it was under Roberto or to the side of him. I just jammed it between his legs. Whether I hit it or not, I couldn’t tell.’’

(on getting big games from team leaders…)
BROWN: “I think it’s important for our top guys to lead by example. It’s the role players and the depth players who fall in behind, who make the team go. You need big performances at this time of year, and we’ve gotten big performances from top-line guys, fourth-line guys. I think it’s important for us to understand where we’re at, and hit the reset button.’’

(on good teams winning without playing their best…)
BROWN: “We’re up two-nothing, and that’s what we wanted coming up here. Like you said, good teams find ways to win. I think it’s important for us to really hit the reset button here, because this team [Vancouver] has dominated the regular season and the majority of the playoffs last year pretty handily. I’m sure they have faced tougher situations than being down two-nothing in a series.’’

(on the late-game scrum…)
BROWN: “It was just a big scrum in front. Something happened in there. We ended up getting a power play out of it. I’m not sure what happened. I was in the net. I think it’s important, if we are starting to frustrate them, to play between the whistles and try to stay away from that stuff as much as possible. Our PK has been pretty good, but if we keep giving them opportunity after opportunity on the power play, they’re going to make us pay.’’
