Prove-it time for rookies in playoffs

In case anyone has plans to attend, the Kings have pushed back the start of today’s on-ice practice to 10:40 a.m. It had been 10 a.m. The team will most likely practice today and tomorrow, then fly to Vancouver tomorrow afternoon. For three players, it will be a new experience, as forwards Dwight King and Jordan Nolan and defenseman Slava Voynov have never been in an NHL playoff game.

King has 23 games of experience in the AHL playoffs, over the past two seasons, while Voynov has 16 games and Nolan played seven playoff games for the Monarchs last season. It will be interesting to see what Darryl Sutter does with the lineup if Jeff Carter is able to play in Game 1. Will the Kings stay with the more-experienced Brad Richardson, or let the rookie forwards play?

SUTTER: “Experience is the best teacher. Good, bad, whatever it is, it’s still a great teacher for them. They need that. There’s only one way to get it.’’
