Lombardi on Bettman’s show

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi will be the guest on NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s weekly show, which will be broadcast today at 3 p.m. Pacific time. The show can be seen/heard on NHL Network, on NHL.com and on SiriusXM radio. It’s an hour-long show, so presumably there will be time for two questions.

Also, after today’s morning skate, Kyle Clifford and Dwight King did interviews for KingsVision in advance of tonight’s game. Click below for the videos…

    @Munchrat,
    The league found there was no mechanical issue with the clock and that DL’s explanation was without merit. The scorekeepers at Staples are now being rotated and the scorekeeper the night of the incident has not worked the clock since (at least as of the date of a WSJ article mentioned below). They found the goal should not have counted but would not change the game result. The Wall St. Journal had an extensive article on this but there was little local reporting. This was so potentially embarrassing to DL and the Kings that the local press who depends on access for their work obviously decided to pass. Freedom of the press ends where freedom to fire/deny access begins.

    Does the NHL make DL check his wallet at the front counter? Does the NHL not think about these interviews beforehand and the potential danger they do to the NHL? First you have Bettman, a true idiot who allows balatant favortitism to occur within the league, talking to DL, a person who cannot answer a question without direct obfuscation (as we witnessed at HockeyFest). Let the double speak tournament begin!!!

    @Munchrat, I’m in Colorado, so it’s at 8:30PM here, but yeah, I know what you mean. When I was working in Cambridge, I was amazed how late the games ran. Back then (’95) I listened to them in internet streamed radio at the office after-hours (obviously, no one else was still there that late.) On the bright side, you get plenty of time after work to get comfortable for the game. Frankly, the schedule (for both coasts) is perfect here. Occasionally there’s a game at 5pm, but it’s usually 5:30 or later, and I work at home.

    Yeah, while my wife’s still up when the game’s on, she hates when I watch in the family room because she has to “run away” to the bedroom. She’s pestered me to get a TV in the basement, but I wasn’t working for a long time. I just might put a TV up in the basement (where I also work) this offseason (and get a new DVR.)

    colo king fan Reply:

    @What’s the frequency, Kenneth?,

    Too funny, my TV is in the basement and my wife’s is upstairs. Separate DVRs too (pretty much a necessity for us). During the playoffs last year (and during a couple of South Park episodes) I woke her up from the basement even though she was sleeping upstairs.. if you knew the layout of my house you’d know exactly how loud I had to be to accomplish this feat. Hope she puts some earplugs in, cause tonight might get pretty noisy in the basement.

    @Lake Forest, He assured me that he DID get to the bottom of it. He conducted an investigation.
    The clock operator (who is no longer the clock operator)claimed that he did not stop the clock. The assistant did not hear the bell that goes off when the clock stops. “We don’t know for certain what happened” Now they watch the clock closely from the situation room and will manually adjust the clock if the situation warrants…
