Kopitar postgame quotes (March 22)

Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
KOPITAR: “Against them, it’s always a physical game. They took it to us in the first, and then we answered right back in the second and pushed back in the third, obviously. It was good.’’

(on going to the top of the division…)
KOPITAR: “The Pacific Division is usually really tight. You win a couple, you’re in third. You lose a couple, you’re out of the playoffs. Right now, we want to make sure we keep this going.’’

(on beating the NHL’s top team…)
KOPITAR: “I think it’s just hard work. They outworked us in the first period. We had three shots on net. We weren’t even close to being around the net, and being in the areas where you score goals. After that, I had a few chances and didn’t come through today, but that’s what we’ve got to create, the offensive zone and going to the net a lot more than we were in the first. We responded in the second and the third. I thought we were around the net. We had some chances but we couldn’t capitalize. It doesn’t matter, I guess, giving up a point to St. Louis, since they’re in first. We just want to make sure we get the two points.’’

(on Jonathan Quick’s game…)
KOPITAR: “I don’t know if we have to talk about that, really. [smiles] He’s been great the whole season. The windmill save he made with three minutes left, that’s where you know that he’s going to hold the zeros on the board, and all you have to do is get one. He’s done that for us all year. We’re going to need him. We’re going to need him for sure.’’
