Scouting the Blackhawks

This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks. It follows the Blackhawks’ 2-1 victory on Nov. 26 in Los Angeles, the Kings 2-0 victory on Dec. 28 in Chicago and the Kings’ 4-0 victory on Feb. 25 in Los Angeles. Special teams figure to be big if the Kings are to have a chance tonight. The Blackhawks rank in the bottom five in the league in both power-play and penalty-kill percentage. In the teams’ first three meetings this season, the Kings went a combined 2-for-9 on the power play and 12-for-12 on the penalty kill. Chicago will start Ray Emery in goal for a fifth consecutive game. Emery has supplanted Corey Crawford as the starter and has a 3-1-0 record in his last four starts. The Blackhawks are expected to be without captain Jonathan Toews, who is recovering from concussion symptoms and hopes to play Tuesday. The Blackhawks have won four of their last five games and are coming off a nice victory over the New York Rangers on Friday.
