    LA_1968 Reply:

    @DBking, I didn’t like any of the hats including his favorite plaid one. But to have the selection of Yankees and SF Giants… really doesn’t cut it in L.A. Two biggest Dodger rivals by far.

    @LA_1968, Agree, hate those hats!

    Deirdre Reply:

    @vegasking, I don’t get the hats either and haven’t for years. He was critized, written up in the newspaper in Philly eveyr time he wore the Yankees cap. They would even ask him post practice about the NY hats. He got annoyed and didn’t understand what the big deal was, he said he likes the different logos, that’s all.
    I hate the plaid hats, they’re awful. But a close friend of his owns Rednex Rebellion Sports wear line so he does it for him. But they are terrible…

    King Cobra Reply:

    @LA_1968, I could care less about what hat he wears! It is his life, his business. The guy rocks on the ice and that is all that matters.

    P.S. the Redneck Rebellion stuff does look awful…..No one said he had to have good taste.

    @Steevogt,

    I think it’s hard to get a gauge at this point considering not only the way the team’s season has gone, but how his season has gone. Richards looked as good as I’ve seen him in a long time last night. Having Carter here is going to make all the difference in the world for Ricky.

    [Reply]

    Deirdre Reply:

    @Steevogt, From just about every interview he’ sgiven, he loves LA , the fans, the rink and the freedom he has living in Manhattan Beach , like him saying in the article that went with this that he loves being able to play tennis during the week and nobody knows him. It’s an adjustment buyt a positive one. He’s pretty lowkey all the time, don’t go by that. But as Doughty pointed out, he is a great guy and very popular teammate and that’s the most important thing.

    Off topic;

    Sounds like Rangers are pulling out of Nash. If DL knew Nash trade never gonna happen by the dead line, getting Carter was a smart move.

    [Reply]

    Jeff_R Reply:

    @goldielocks, If the Kings were ever on the list they would of had to trade Brownie et al for Nash. I am happy they didn’t do that and would rather have Kane or Parise instead.

    [Reply]

    AZ King Reply:

    @Jeff_R,

    I don’t where this idea of Kane being traded came from. The only possible trade I heard, involving Kane, was going to Buffalo in exchange for Miller. I don’t think the Hawks are actually shopping him.

    TSN is still saying that the Kings are “reportedly” on Nash’s list.

    [Reply]

    Jeff_R Reply:

    @AZ King, Lots of rumors that Kane would be better off out of Chicago and out of Towes’s shadow just like Jack with Drew. While I don’t know if it is true or not the fact that they are having problems defensively, goaltending and with salary cap issues has brought on these rumors. Trading Bernier would help with there goaltending and at a low cap hit. After Keith and Seabrook they aren’t that great defensively. So that why Kane would go, as they will not trade Towes and they have a great offense even without Kane.

    KindSir Reply:

    @Jeff_R, Kand and Toews are BFFs though, much like Rickie and Carts. I don’t think Toews would be very happy if Kane was traded

    [Reply]

    AZ King Reply:

    @goldielocks,

    Sounds like the BJ’s GM is asking for the moon in exchange for Nash. “Stiker shock” was term they used on NHL.com. I’d be surprised to see Nash in Columbus next season, but I don’t think he’s going to be moved tomorrow.

    [Reply]

    goldielocks Reply:

    @AZ King,

    Agreed. I don’t think Nash trade’s gonna happen tomorrow. Now I’m hearing Flyers are hunting goalie. How about Bernier for JVR?

    [Reply]

    Duncanz Reply:

    @goldielocks, Against it. Lots of injury concerns, incl the toxic ‘C’ word.
    If we didn’t already have a lot of guys with their heads rung I would be less afraid of trading for him.
    The way things are, not worth the risk!

    Speaking of Richards…..The Kings still desperately need a top 6 left wing. Putting Dwight King with Richards and Carter ain’t gonna cut it. Penner – despite a very good game last night – has proven he cannot handle the job on a consistent basis, and Gagne remains a huge injury unknown. I think DL still has more work to do by noon tomorrow….

  17. MindGeyser says:

    That was really good. Reminds me of NFL Films which basically taught me to love and appreciate the history of American Football. Videos like this need a wider audience, of course, minus certain information that was mentioned by previous posters.

    I want to point out from this video, that there are a lot of games where the Kings are criticized for not being energized enough or not caring enough, but this video should remind all of us that these guys know where they are, what their goal is, and what these games mean. Sometimes it just doesn’t work as planned.

    Another thing I want to point out, when talking about the system as a source of scoring woes, is to note that Kompon made sure to mention to play “above” the puck, meaning to play between the puck and Quick. I’ve noticed Kings taking odd angles to the puck and backing off of 50/50 pucks, and I think that’s why. It appears to be designed to ensure that the Kings are never caught with their pants down (and given the history of sub-par goaltending the franchise has had, no small wonder it was instituted), but it seems like if anything could be loosened to enable more offense, it would be that.

    I have been following the Kings for 24 years now and have never seen as many teams this close at this point in the season. Every game is a 7th game (playoff type game) right now. Who will make the 8th spot, have no clue right now. But GO KINGS.

    After Chicago won the cup, the Toews family rented the cabin next to Richards summer home and the story goes that as a joke he brought the cup out to the dock and held it up when Richards went by in his boat. Richards smiled and said his turn is coming soon so lets hope so.

    Toews and Richie are buddies and play hockey in some cancer fundraising events in the area as well as Richards golf tourney and spend time fishing in the summer along with Ian White and a few others. Great for people of Kenora and the Lake of the Woods.
