Gagne skates for first time

Things didn’t go very well for the Kings in New York yesterday, but things went better for one of the Kings in Los Angeles. Simon Gagne skated for approximately a half-hour yesterday, in what apparently was his first time on the ice since he suffered a concussion in the Dec. 26 game against Phoenix. Gagne’s short-term and long-term status remains unknown, but the fact that Gagne felt good enough to get on the ice is a positive development for the 31-year-old winger. Kings officials had privately expressed concern that Gagne might be sidelined for the rest of the season. Gagne, who is under contract through next season, has seven goals and 10 assists in 34 games this season and is a former two-time 40-goal scorer.
