Morning in Sunrise

If I had gotten out of bed a little earlier, this post could have been titled, “Sunrise in Sunrise,’’ but, alas, no. This is the fifth and final day in Florida, and while there are certainly worse places to be in February, it does feel like it’s time to move this trip along. It’s not that I don’t enjoy 88-percent humidity while walking to get coffee at 9 a.m., but… The Kings are scheduled to have their morning skate at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time. Here’s the morning view of Sunrise, Fla., with the fine craftsmanship of a parking garage in the foreground. I zoomed in a bit for a little more of the local feel. If there’s one thing Florida doesn’t lack, it’s standing water, but it’s been nice to enjoy the weather here.

    DL ‘s biggest mistake was not having a plan B(in case of injuries)
    As much as its painfull to watch the offense..its enjoyable to watch our D
    Maybe its our master plan to hide our offense till the playoffs!!!

    It would be fascinating to see Rich monitor this blog while inebriated. Governments would fall, religions destroyed,Stanley Cup winners created and corn fields stripped bare. Thank goodness Rich is a true professional.

    Lake Forest Reply:

    @DesertKing, I think it would be hilarious. He would probably go off on us for correcting every little/minor spelling mistake, spitting out rumors he makes up and confirm all trades that have been rumored on here.

    “How you like me now?”

    Shakes Reply:

    @DesertKing,

    Top 10 ways the blog would be different if Rich were inebriated (not including Lake Forest’s ones from above)

    1) Rich’s “Morning in (insert city name)” picture diary would include photos of him playing flip-cup and streaking through the quads.
    2) Every time someone tries to think of a new and exciting combo for our 4th line Rich will angrily comment “honestly, it doesn’t friggin’ matter you bozo!”
    3) Rich starts re-naming the day after series “View from (insert city name of team we just played)” will be renamed “View from your Mom”
    4) Brian Hayward will be included as a featured interview
    5) In a poignant post, Rich will open up about his checkered past in a Turkish prison camp
    6) Rich will announce that that the Kings have been renamed the Los Angeles Mighty Kings of Los Angeles
    7) Rich will interrupt the next DM interview after 3 sentences and say “just get to the point, will ya?!!”
    8) Stoll will shoot wide of the net… okay so not everything will be so different
    9) Rich admits that half of the regular posters on here are really just him testing out various nom de plumes.
    10) Rich will say, “this IS baseball” and just start writing about his Cubs

    I loved Florida when i went there on vacation…and i went in July haha talk about hot. 90% humidity and 112 degrees. Loved it! Haha

    [Reply]

    mash-ola Reply:

    @TeamJMFJ, I went to Miami in December for a wedding and it was 78 degrees w/90% humidity, so it felt like the mid 80′s…

    I also caught the Hurricanes/Panthers game at Bank Atlantic Center on 12/18. Nice building, wide concourse with lots of activities. Two things that struck me:

    - Unless you pay for VIP parking, the parking around the arena is vast and PARKING IS FREE! It stunned me and my friend. When was the last time you had free parking to a sporting event?

    - There is a large Jewish community there and two of the concessions in the BAC are a Deli and a Bagel stand where they make the bagels fresh on the premises during the game. So cool!

    - Nice building with good sight lines, but the building looked only 3/4 full.

    Rich: Hope you had your fill of Steak N Shake and Cuban Food while you were in FLA. Did you and the team make the trip to the casinos to the south, or that crazy scene in South Beach? The Hard Rock Cafe Casino on the Indian Reserve is huge and really nice!

    It was a fun place. Not a hockey town by any means, but a fun place to chill out…

    SCORE KINGS SCORE!

    Frankly, I don’t want it here. Just imagine how many thousands will pack up and move out here after seeing all of us at Dodger Stadium- beverage in hand, shorts and T’s, with Rainbow sandles on our feet while they have just come in from shoveling their driveway for the third time in a week.

    [Reply]

    Michael J. Reply:

    @lakingbob(chi),

    On the contrary, just think of how many more Ranger, Red Wing, and Hawk fans will move out here after watching all of us enjoy the game – beverage in hand, shorts and T’s on our back, and Rainbow Sandals on our feet on January 1st! These people will be contemplating whether they can shovel their driveway between the first and second periods – lets keep them right where they are.
