Stoll postgame quotes (Feb. 3)

Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)

STOLL: “We just didn’t get enough good quality chances. I don’t think we moved the puck as well as we wanted to, coming out of our zone and in the neutral zone. They’re a good team. They check well. They have good sticks, they move and we’ve got to work harder to get open to make good passes. When you get through the neutral zone, the defensive zone, that’s how you’re going to score goals. We’re not going to score goals, obviously, by playing in the D-zone, so we’ve got to be smoother, be quicker. They don’t give up much. They give up less goals-against than we do. We knew it was going to be a tight, playoff-style game in here, a heavy and hard game. That’s exactly what we got. We just couldn’t find a way to beat Halak.’’

(on needing to break the forecheck with support play…)
STOLL: “Short, support plays. Like you saw, when we broke it out clean, sometimes it looks easy but it’s just a good support play. One good pass, one good play, and you can break that. We just didn’t have enough of those.’’

(on only having one power play…)
STOLL: “You could tell, early on, that they were going to let a lot of stuff go and it was going to be a hard-fought game. And that’s fine. We’ve got to find ways to score goals. We’re not waiting for the power play. You can’t do that in this game. You’ve got to find ways to generate offense.’’
