SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Halak.
Blues 1, Kings 0: The Blues broke the scoreless tie 8:38 into the second period. Drew Doughty tried to line up Matt D’Agostini for a hip check along the boards in the Kings’ zone, but D’Agostini fought through it. That led to a 2-on-1 chance with Jamie Langenbrunner, and D’Agostini passed across to Langenbrunner for the one-time goal. Alex Pietrangelo also got an assist.
End of period: The Blues outshot the Kings 13-8 in the period. The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill. The Kings got better play from Quick in the period but had only flurries of offensive pressure.
FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Blues’ Jaroslav Halak.
End of period: The Kings recorded five of the first six shots, but the Blues outshot the Kings 12-6 in the scoreless, penalty-free period. The Blues had more sustained pressure throughout the period and also had success with their forecheck, while the Kings struggled at times with offensive-zone recovery. St. Louis’ David Perron hit the post at the 10:17 mark, and the Blues nearly scored a couple other times, after Quick left rebounds in prime scoring areas.
