Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…
(on whether he had ever won a game in the last second…)
SUTTER: “I don’t know. I barely remember the last second tonight. I don’t know. Probably. But the big thing is, you needed the red light to come on (before). It used to be, you never had the tenths (of second). Back in the old Chicago Stadium, it was just the clock.’’
(on the game…)
SUTTER: “We were real average, quite honestly. The difference between this game, and the last game we played Columbus, was special teams. Last time, we had eight power plays and didn’t score. Tonight, we scored two power-play goals. Difference in the game. And then the (penalty) kill on Justin’s penalty late, that’s not much fun.’’
(on potentially getting more offense…)
SUTTER: “It’s a 3-2 league. It is. But the games we’ve won (recently), we’ve scored three, four and five goals. So that’s how you’ve got to look at it.’’
(on struggling this season against Columbus…)
SUTTER: “There’s not enough difference in the teams, quite simply. Guys, at the start of the year, said Columbus was going to be a lot higher team than they are. So there’s not enough difference in the clubs.’’
(on being worried about “playing down to competition”…)
SUTTER: “Not really. I can only remember losing two games in the last six weeks. Pretty tough league.’’
(on Dustin Penner’s game…)
SUTTER: “I was telling the coaches, that last rush he had, where he went down the side there, I thought it was Frank Mahovlich. [laughs] If he had hit the net, he would have put it right through the net.’’
