New app, and Kings on `Funny or Die’

For the smartphone folks out there, theres’s now an official Kings app that has a ton of stuff, including video, stats and the latest news. The blog stuff is featured as well, under the “news” section. If you have an iPhone, check it out, and it will soon be available for Android as well…

L.A. Kings app on iTunes

Also, this is pretty entertaining… The folks from the website FunnyOrDie.com were out at Kings practice recently, and shot this piece with Drew Doughty, Matt Greene, Anze Kopitar and Mike Richards. Watch out for Doughty Kopitar doing his interpretation of Dustin Brown’s wrong-way water-bottle incident from this season.

I saw this earlier, and I thought it was Doughty that made fun of the water bottle?

C’mon Rich, it’s DOUGHTY doing the Brown impression, not Kopitar.

Will there ever be an ANDROID APP for us NON iPhone users??? If there is, and I am unaware, please, fill me in…

@VegasKingsFan_Z, Our firm designs and builds mobile app’s and Android is always way later, if ever. It’s like the “fries” with the food order. Very secondary.

That made me crack up! Too funny….

I’m glad I have an iPhone or I’d be very annoyed!

It’s not an insider app though! I do not understand why they cannot make a mobile version of this site. Not the high cost of an app but they can code it so a mobile version appears on the phone. They did it very briefly early last year I believe but it then went back to the old format.

Just calling it like I see it…

Buggy app. Good look, poor execution.

-Comments on the app blog don’t show up here.
-Ticker on the bottom doesn’t tap to story.
    -Photos of players aren’t there.
-Bio’s are just their height, weight and age.
    -Videos are ancient.
    -No game recaps.
    -Standings start in the East.

Sadly, the Funny or Die piece just isn’t funny at all and must die. They have Doughty see the puck coming and he lets it hit him? Really? Everyone knows it’s funny if he gets blindsided by it. Really cheesy piece. The Kardasian bit sealed the deal.

    370455vinSD Reply:

@wavesinair, Yeah, I saw your post and looked for it here and nada. Plus, shouldn’t the default position in the Standings section be the Western Conference, Pacific Division?

    @wavesinair, ….come on dude…it’s the KARDASIANS….I mean how hip can you be?….

@wavesinair, Funniest part of it was the part that actually happened (Brown + water bottle). And how did they not get up on Pancakes penner?

@wavesinair, wasn’t impressed. Pretty lame piece I thought. No offense Rich BTW. Those 2 guys should be banned from Staples.

I’d like to invite all my fellow Insiders to check out my RealScorz Hockey app. It is a simple, easy to play game (kind of fantasy-lite) where you face off against Kings fans every game of the season by picking the 5 Kings you think will score goals or assists. Challenging this year, I know! RealScorz Hockey is in the iTunes store and the Android Market. The iOS app normally costs $.99, but for Rich and all you guys I have promo codes, just hit me up and I’ll send you a code to download it for free.

On another note, the disrespect continues for the Kings.

If I’m not mistaken (and I checked closely, so I think I’m correct) the All Star Lineup on NHL.com shows each player listed in the order that they were picked (sorted by position)…

EXCEPT FOR ONE PLAYER… yep… Jonathan Quick. He’s listed AFTER Lundqvist in the goalie section. Not cool. Not cool at all.

@wavesinair, Wasn’t Lundqvist pre-picked as assistant captain before the draft started?

    [Reply]

    The Batman Reply:

@wavesinair, Yea I think it was listed like that. Because technically he was already on the team when quick was picked

@wavesinair, Also, tell me that Tim Thomas doesn’t look like the “by the book hard nosed detective that gets duped by the young, upstart, plays by his own rules hero” in a 1970′s cop thriller?

@wavesinair, Lundqvist WAS taken before Quick as an assistant captain. In fact it looked like Lundqvist actually was the one who picked Quick.

@wavesinair, Yeah I think those things can be updated though. The players’ pictures are also low resolution. But I can listen to the post game radio show. Without the app, not a chance.

Finally a Kings App! Yes sir!

Tyler Toffoli and the Ottawa 67′s playing tonight in Ottawa. Think there will be a few scouts taking in the game?

I guess there has been buzz around the city all week for this game. All the hype and possible scouts have everything to do with the NHL All Star game being in Ottawa though.

    [Reply]

    California Royalty Reply:

@California Royalty, Brian Campbell and Logan Couture doing the honorary puck drop, who both played for the 67′s. Couture was Toffoli’s linemate and captain.

Funny or Die guys obviously haven’t been around the Kings much. They would have just let Greener roll. THAT would have made for a great video (or 5).
