Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…
(on Anze Kopitar’s status…)
SUTTER: “He will probably be fine. He’s got a bloody nose.”
(on the Kings’ penalty kill…)
SUTTER: “It was a game of special teams. Both the penalty kill and the power play were both really good.”
(on the response by Mike Richards after the hit on Kopitar…)
SUTTER: “That’s what a good team does, right? You expect that out of Mike.”
(on Richards getting the extra penalty for not removing his helmet/visor…)
SUTTER: “That’s the rule. … He was coming to the rescue of his teammate and probably not thinking about it.”
(on the Kings’ power play…)
SUTTER: “It changed the momentum for us. It was one of those games. There were two veteran officials calling more than everything.”
(on the start to the game…)
SUTTER: “They’ve got some hard players over there, meaning some hard forwards. Ott, Morrow, Benn, hard guys to play against, so you’ve got to match that up. Two or three of our defensemen, early, weren’t prepared for that. Give the guys credit, the whole group, for battling back. When you’re down a couple, it’s tough.”
(more on Kopitar’s injury…)
SUTTER: “It’s half an hour after the game and I’m not the doctor and I’m not Kopitar. That’s all I can tell you right now. He told me he’s fine, so we’ll see what that means.”
