Quick: Selection `exciting’ but down the road

As noted, Jonathan Quick was selected to the NHL All-Star Game today, and became the first Kings goalie in 31 years to receive the honor. Typical for Quick, he was a bit reticent today in terms of talking about himself and his accomplishment, but he did briefly share some thoughts, as did Darryl Sutter…

QUICK: “It’s a great accomplishment, something I’ll look forward to do at the end of the month, but right now we’ve got a lot going on here. We’ve got a big game tonight against Dallas, and that’s ultimately what we’re all focused on. … It’s exciting. It’s something I’m looking forward to. It will be a great time. It will be a good couple days, but that’s a couple weeks away. We’ve got a lot of work to do here in the next couple weeks.’’

SUTTER: “I think it was, to me, a formality. You look at his season. They take six goalies, and he’s top five or top six in all four (statistical) categories, so the only way that he could get overlooked is just because he’s out of loop a little. I think it’s an easy decision. … He paid his dues and he’s having a great season, so he should be there.’’
