Johnson’s `Tebowing’ not entirely liked

Most everyone has probably seen it at this point — if not, the video and quotes can be found by clicking here — but last night, Jack Johnson celebrated his goal by “Tebowing.’’ It didn’t go over entirely well in the Washington Capitals’ locker room. Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner told The Washington Times, “I understand he’s just trying to be funny, but still it’s kind of a stupid celebration. It’s like those teams in the world junior riding their stick giving high-fives across the bench.’’

Take it for what it’s worth. It was a tough night for the Capitals’ defense, so Alzner is entitled to some frustration. On the other hand, perhaps Alzner has managed to turn his head throughout some of teammate Alex Ovechkin’s “interesting’’ goal celebrations over the years. There’s a saying about stones and glass houses…

Also, the story noted that Darryl Sutter “didn’t seem too thrilled on the bench at first’’ after Johnson’s celebration. I had to laugh a little, because Sutter’s facial expressions are pretty much consistent, regardless of whether he just won the lottery or had his car stolen.
