There’s no NFL in Los Angeles, but Jack Johnson brought “Tebowing” to Staples Center tonight. After his second-period goal against Washington, Johnson mimicked the post-touchdown celebration of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
“Hey, you have some fun while you’re scoring,’’ Johnson said. “It’s fun to score, so you might as well have some fun. I was watching the Broncos game with some buddies who flew in from Michigan. They said, `If you score, you’ve got to Tebow.’ I said, `OK, you’re on.’’’
And had he heard anything about the celebration from old-school coach Darryl Sutter?
“No, I haven’t heard anything,’’ Johnson said.
Sutter didn’t seem to mind.
“If we could all play like Tebow in a big game, we wouldn’t have lost a game yet,” Sutter said.
Meh, whatever… Gad he is having fun! It shows!

@Mars, I thought the point was that late goal in the 1st. With under a minute, to take the lead, by AK who hadn’t found the twine in almost a fortnight, that gave the boys a good vibe going into the room and I just felt that they’d score another one to get three…but I will take 5 every day of the week and 4x on Sunday!

@Duncan, Perhaps a knee slide down the ice with his jersey over his head.

@Mikey J., As Rick James often said (at least according to Dave Chappelle) “It’s a CELEBRATION!!!”

@Sammuch,
I agree. They seem to rise to the level of the opponent. I went to the New Years Eve game and I don’t remember the last time it was that fun. Watching last night was right up there though. Shut out Chicago as well. So this team is very capable. Just gotta keep it rolling. That CBJ loss was hard to swallow.

@Hockey & Rocky, Yeah, there was a lot of tongue-biting going on.

Good for him. As long as he is scoring, it’s his business what he does afterwards.
