@Kings Fan In Temecula, He probably saw the writing on the wall. He was dogging it throughout the last game and had to sense that he stood a good chance of going down to the fourth line. Lower back injury my butt. The only way his back could be injured is from sitting too long or a lack of exercise. He doesn’t fit with this club and we’re certainly no worse off without him. Can’t wait until he has to find a new team next July.

@Peter90210, Q
Ya your probably rite.. He gets a semi breakaway and hits a post in the game where no one else scored. And the team really has found the back of the net this year. It’s for sure all Penner. Doughty 7 million has 3 goals and Kopitar has been scoring a lot also. Lewis 0 goals.. Penner is the teams problem. It was proved in tonight’s game in a 1-0 lose to the blue jackets.

Penner knew what was coming and thought better of it. Smart man.

They need practice?

@dahack11, Let’s be honest here….aren’t we just a wee bit pi$$ed off that we wasted 3 prime hours of a beautiful sat. afternoon???
Heck, I could’ve & should’ve taken a nap….the Kings did afterall, right?
is Kopitar still hanging his head BTW???
[Reply]
Everyone usually picks on the same guys after a loss, so I’m starting with this: That might have been the worst game I’ve seen Anze Kopitar play since he got here. Bad decisions with the puck, slow to react, and just not skating as hard as he can. I’m wondering about his health, and whether he’s got an injury of some kind. He and Quick are the only guys I wouldn’t trade right now, but he was awful today.
Mike Richards hasn’t been good for a few games now. Forget Loktionov’s feelings (he doesn’t belong in the NHL yet), and put Richards back at center. While we’re at it, Richards needs to center the second power play unit. I wouldn’t put Stoll out there until he can prove he can hit the BOTTOM of the net. Move Johnson to the second unit, and put Mitchell with Doughty.

@KingMe20, Actually, it’s a continung trend with Kopitar. He’s pathetic & needs to stop sulking & show some maturity.

@KingMe20, good points . I would also put Brown on the left wing, maybe put Kopi up on the point on the pp. His play from the half wall is brutal. I think Mitchell on 1st pp unit is a good idea, he is hockey smart. Lokti is not a man yet, I have NEVER seen a player stay away from contact like Lokti does in my life.

Its official, Evans just placed the blame on the PP system and not the players.

@Subby, I heard you on Radio. I like that Nick and Daryl are not saying “well they played well and had many shots”. They are calling it like it is. I say fire Kompon, and just roll 4 lines over the boards like we do in Adult hockey, Put Westy in front of the net, it couldn’t get worse than never scoring.

Surprised Quick isn’t out with a back injury by now…

What a better hockey game.

The scariest trend right now is that when the team does score it’s either a screened shot from the blue line, a deflection, or a goal scored in the paint. No goals on the rush and no mid range shots what so ever. It’s seems like this team just can’t shoot the puck. Especially Kopitar.

@Mikey J., Kopi had one nice wrister in the second period on the rush, Goalie made a nice save. He looks lazy and frustrated out there. I can’t count how many times they came in the zone on right wing wall in the 1st and 3rd periods and the player stops up and loses the puck, And Doughty and Johnson both were skating the puck out of the d-zone with a Bluejacket hooking at them and they shot the puck ahead, if they keep there feet moving they draw a penalty. They are not playing SMART hockey, the Jackets tipped so many pucks on there way back to the point, the other teams have the Kings scouted very well.
[Reply]
I think it’s time to make some wholesale changes on this team & it’s roster…
1) admit the Penner deal was a bad one & waive him….it’s time cut bait w/ him…
2) move Richards back to center where he belongs & make brown his LEFT winger & Stoll the right wing
3) move Williams up w/ Kopitar where they clicked earlier this season & Richardson on the left wing
4) move Lokitionov back to Manchester where he needs to develop more
5) move Lewis back to centering a 3rd line w/ Clifford & Hunter…
6) 4th line of Fraser, Westgarth, & Moreau….
Not a tremendous improvement in personnel obviously, but w/o a major trade & Gagne out for what looks like a long while, going back to basics is all we can do right now.
thoughts?

@dahack11, Better yet….w/ all our depth at center, d-man, & in goal, it’s time to package maybe one of all 3 & get a REAL winger….This organization lacks wingers & has for some time.

@dahack11, agree that changes need to stillbe made but…I would move stoll to 3rd line center and not clifford to 2nd line and I’d still cut Moreau and I’d add hunter to that thought.
[Reply]
Didn’t really notice his absence. 2 goals in a contract year.

You never know with the dynamics of all involved. Having penner could have been the difference in us not getting a goal

If Dustin Penner was out with a body injury that the LA Kings will change the lines for tiny bit for Monday Games like
1 Richards Kopitar Clifford
2 Brown Stoll Lewis
3 Fraser Hunter Loktionov
4 Westgarth Richardson Williams for Monday’s games and with a Defenseman changed for Monday’s Game will be
Doughty Johnson
Scuderi Voynov
Martinez Greene so what do you think about that

@Adam M,
sorry adam, not good…
1 – cliffy is certainly not ready for the first line, not to mention, no point in putting out top two centers together (ie kopitar and richards) if we’re not going for a pure attack line, cliffy is a grinder…
2 – maybe, but only because you’ve got richards and kopitar paired together on the first line… and though lewis will hopefully bloom sooner than later, williams is still a better option at this point on wing…
3 – this line is a mess… you’ve got two centers in fraser and lokti, but you’re putting them both on the wing… also, though i love him, fraser is a fourth line center, third line would be asking a lot from him (especially when center is actually our depth, and we already have multiple playing wings)…
4 – richardson and williams on the fourth line? it’d probably be the best fourth line in hockey… unfortunately, i think both of those guys would need to be moved up to round out your lineup…
Defense – first, foremost, and most importantly, where the heck is mitchell? without him in your lineup it’s even tough to talk about the other pairings (because they’re just not as good without mitchell around)…
brown kopitar williams
richardson loktionov richards
clifford stoll lewis
hunter fraser westgarth
mitchell doughty
scuderi johnson
greene voynov
my major change would be, FIRE KOMPON…
