Postgame notes (Jan. 5)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings still have not lost in regulation under coach Darryl Sutter, as they beat the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 in overtime on Thursday night at Staples Center.

— The Kings are now 5-0-3 under Sutter and have recorded at least one point in nine consecutive games (6-0-3).

— The Kings are 6-0-1 in their last seven games against the Coyotes.

— Through 41 games, the Kings are 20-14-7 (47 points). Through 41 games last season, the Kings were 23-17-1 (47 points).

— The Kings have allowed two or fewer goals in 24 of their 41 games, and have a 16-3-5 record in those games. The Kings have scored two or fewer goals in 31 of their 41 games, and have a 10-14-7 record in those games.

— Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in regulation for his league-leading sixth shutout of the season and his 20th career shutout. Quick also had six shutouts last season. In his last eight games, Quick has a 6-0-2 record, a 1.20 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage.

— The Kings improved to 11-8-2 at Staples Center (including 4-0-1 in their last five), 12-6-7 in one-goal games, 13-2-4 when scoring the first goal and 3-3 in games decided in the five-minute overtime period.

— The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill. The Kings have scored one power-play goal in their last six games. The Kings have been perfect on the power play for nine consecutive games and have now killed 28 consecutive penalties and 75 of their last 78.

— Drew Doughty scored the Kings’ lone goal, 38 seconds into overtime, Doughty’s third goal and 16th point of the season. Doughty had gone 24 consecutive games without a goal. The goal was Doughty’s 10th career game-winning goal and his second career overtime goal.

— Jarret Stoll had an assist, for his eighth assist and 12th point of the season. Stoll has two assists in his last three games.

— Jack Johnson had an assist, for his 10th assist and 15th point of the season. Johnson has two assists in his lsat three games.

— Willie Mitchell recorded a game-high five shots on goal. Kyle Clifford was credited with a game-high seven hits. Matt Greene was credited with a game-high four blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time, at 22 minutes, 29 seconds, followed by Rob Scuderi, at 21:04. Mike Richards led all Kings forwards in ice time, at 18:23, followed by Anze Kopitar, at 18:07.

— The Kings won 20 of 52 faceoffs (38 percent). Jarret Stoll won 8 of 18 draws (44 percent). Anze Kopitar won 3 of 12 draws (25 percent). Mike Richards won 5 of 9 draws (56 percent).
