Quick postgame quotes (Jan. 5)

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
QUICK: “There were times when our systems caught up with each other and not much was going on, but then there were times when both teams were getting chances. We outplayed them, I believe, for the majority of the game. We were creating some stuff around their net. Smith made some big saves to push it into overtime. We were fortunate to get a goal there early in overtime and get out of here with two points.’’

(on whether he has become accustomed to tight, low-scoring games…)
QUICK: “Well, it seems like it has happened frequently, but every game brings its own challenges on for a goalie. Sometimes you’re going to have to make 40 saves. Sometimes you’re going to have to make 18, and a few of them are going to be real quality. Sometimes your team is going to score four goals for you. Every game is different and every game has its own challenges. You prepare to come in and not let in any. That’s ultimately your goal, but sometimes they’re going to get a few and you need your team to score some goals.’’
