Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…
(on whether his team played well enough to get the win…)
SUTTER: “We played hard. We wanted to get through the first (period). They’re a really good first-period team, if you look at their offense and what they’ve done in the first periods this year. I think they’ve scored 40 of their goals. I thought we got through that. Then we had the opportunity 5-on-3 and they have the opportunity 5-on-3. It’s tough. It’s better to look at it the other way, and take the point.’’
(on whether it’s a point earned or a point loss…)
SUTTER: “Hey, it’s the NHL. That’s why I said, you just stay positive. The positive is the (one) point. We played two games in less than a day, really. We get in here at 2:30 morning. We talked about trying to put ourselves in a playoff spot by the end of this trip, so they did a good job with that.’’
(on Jonathan Bernier’s game…)
SUTTER: “He was really solid. I thought there were a couple times early where he probably didn’t handle it as well as he wanted, but then as the game went on, he was really smothering pucks. Pucks stayed in on him. He kept trying to get us whistles. That’s what I kept telling him (to do) during timeouts, because I wasn’t sure how much energy we had, so he did a good job.”
