As noted yesterday, the Kings are holding their “fathers’ trip” with the two-game set in Chicago and Winnipeg this week — I guess they like cold weather — and it got underway with Monday’s game in Los Angeles and Tuesday’s flight to Chicago. About half of the dads made that flight, and others will join the team along the way. In total, all of the fathers are expected to be on the trip except those of Andrei Loktionov, Slava Voynov and Simon Gagne (who didn’t make the trip either). Here’s the list of the proud dads — a group picture will be taken today and posted ASAP — followed by a KingsVision video of the start of the trip…
Alain Bernier, Bryan Brown, John Clifford, Paul Doughty, David Drewiske, John Fraser, Jim Greene, Stan Hunter, Jack Johnson Sr., Matjaz Kopitar, Randy Lewis, Frank Martinez, Reid Mitchell, Terry Penner, Doug Quick, Norman Richards, Jim Richardson, Bob Scuderi, Tim Stoll, Reg Westgarth, Craig Williams.

Very cool to see, thanks! Make your dads proud this trip, guys.

Now that was cool to watch. Good to know that the Dad’s are along for this small trip. It must be a blast to hang out with your pride and joy’s and watch hockey. Here’s to a great win in Chicago. Also noticed that JJ’s dad is a Party Animal. It was during the TV interview with Mitchell’s dad.

@King Charles of Salt Lake,
That was funny, I half expected to see bunny ears appear behind Mitchell’s head.

HA some of these guys, like Richardson, are the splitting image of their fathers. I’m surprised and pleased that it appears all of the fathers are still alive to witness their son’s successes. That’s a blessing in itself.

To tough to get the Russian dads for the trip I guess.

@KC23,
Loktionov’s father died during the last season, I believe he went back home for a week.

@LB, And if I remember, Voynov made a comment a few years ago while in Manchester that seemed to indicate his father couldn’t travel for some reason.

I would assume DD owns the jet?

Since I didn’t make it the NHL, the plan is to have my 8 week old son blossom into an NHL player and get on an NHL charter through his success.

@Steve S., ahh poor fella. That would have been so tough. I bet him and Voynov became/will become close over this trip. Neither father is there and they barely speak English.

Looks like Mr. Mitchell was the only one that drank the round of beers he bought! haha

If I remember correctly, the Kings typically play some good hockey when the dads are in the house. Hopefully it’s more of the same!

Do they change charters frequently? Dont they usually fly Delta ?

@puck73, That’s right, I think a lot of NHL teams charter Air Canada. So what was with this Trans Atlantic Airliner?

@scotth,
The livery says Trans Canada. Most major airlines have special liveries to celebrate their heritage and history of the airline. Sometimes they are called retro. This is one of Air Canada’s special liveries.
I love this event – but here’s my question: I thought the NHL made it mandatory that all players wear a coat-and-tie when traveling. Certainly we’ve seen that on the past few HBO 24/7′s. What’s up?

Enjoyed seeing this and the week of reports should be just as fun. I’ll bet Lokti & Slava will get honorary dads stepping in. Looks like Willie Mitchell’s dad might have already done that with Slava. Hope that’s the case.
Trent Hunter & Dad have the same barber.
These segments are great!
