Kings prospects start World Juniors

Kings prospects Derek Forbort and Kevin Gravel are on the Team USA roster and Chris Gibson is on Team Finland for the World Junior Championships, which start today in Canada.

Gibson is in goal right now for Finland, in a game being shown in the States on NHL Network. Gibson, the Kings’ second-round pick this year, is a goalie with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He has a 3.08 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage in 25 games this season.

Forbort, the Kings’ first-round draft pick in 2010 (No. 15 overall), is a defenseman in his sophomore season at the University of North Dakota. Forbort, listed at 6-foot-5, 207 pounds, has one goal, three assists and a minus-6 rating in 18 games this season.

Gravel, the Kings’ fifth-round pick in 2010, is a defenseman in his sophomore season at St. Cloud State. Gravel, listed at 6-4, 198 pounds, has zero goals, four assists and a plus-1 rating in 20 games this season.

The United States plays Denmark at 5 p.m. Pacific time, with the game shown live on NHL Network.
