Postgame notes (Dec. 15)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings got just enough offense, as they ended a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night at Nationwide Arena.

— The Kings had been 0-12-1 this season when trailing after the second period. They trailed Columbus 1-0 after the second period Thursday. The Kings hadn’t won, when trailing at the start of the third period, since Jan. 26 of last season, against San Jose.

— The Kings have now scored two or fewer goals in 10 consecutive games, the longest such streak in franchise history (thanks to Nick Nickson for the note).

— The Kings recorded their first road victory since Nov. 22 at St. Louis.

— The Kings have now won four consecutive games over Columbus and are 6-1-0 against the Blue Jackets since Oct. 2009.

— The Kings outshot the Blue Jackets 41-25, including 17-6 in the first period. The Kings have now topped the 40-shot mark in three of their last four games. They did not record more than 39 shots on goal in any of their first 27 games. The 41 shots on goal were the most recorded by a Columbus opponent this season.

— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Kings have killed 46 of their last 48 penalties but are 2-for-30 on the power play in their last 10 games.

— The Kings improved to 6-4-3 on the road and 4-11-1 when allowing the first goal. The Kings are now 6-13-4 when they score two or fewer goals.

— Jonathan Quick stopped 24 of 25 shots to break a personal three-game losing streak. Quick had allowed at least three goals in each of his last three starts.

— Dustin Brown had one goal, his sixth of the season — the game-winning goal in the third period — and one assist. Four of Brown’s six goals this season have been game-winning goals. Brown had not recorded a point in his previous five games and had one goal in his previous 13 games.

— Davis Drewiske had one goal, his first of the season and the second of his 102-game NHL career. Drewiske’s other goal came on Oct. 6, 2009, against San Jose.

— Anze Kopitar had one assist, to push his team-high totals to 19 assists and 29 points. Kopitar has four assists in his last five games.

— Drew Doughty had one assist, his seventh of the season. Doughty has 15 points in 13 career games against Columbus (two goals, 13 assists). Doughty had not recorded a point in his previous four games and had zero goals and one assist in his previous 14 games.

— Simon Gagne had one assist, his ninth of the season. Gagne had gone six consecutive games without a point.

— Justin Williams recorded a game-high five shots on goal. Matt Greene was credited with a team-high six hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time, at 24 minutes, 49 seconds, followed by Anze Kopitar, at 24:47.

— The Kings won 26 of 60 faceoffs (43 percent). Anze Kopitar won 11 of 26 draws (42 percent). Jarret Stoll won 8 of 20 draws (40 percent). Colin Fraser won 3 of 4 draws (75 percent).
