Game 29: Stars 2, Kings 1 (FINAL)

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Bernier against Bachman.
End of game: The Kings were held to two or fewer goals for the eighth consecutive game and dropped their fourth consecutive game.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Bernier against Bachman.
Kings 1, Stars 1: The Kings continued their parade to the penalty box, but tied the game with a shorthanded goal with 6:02 remaining in the second period. Anze Kopitar poked the puck away from Dallas’ Michael Ryder at the Kings’ blue line, then started a 2-on-0 break with Brad Richardson. Richardson kept the puck and tucked it past Bachman to make it a 1-1 game.
Stars 2, Kings 1: Dallas got the lead back less than three minutes later. Trevor Daley cut to the inside of the left circle, and his shot went off the post, off Bernier’s pad and over the line to give the Stars a 2-1 lead with 3:16 remaining in the second period. Tomas Vincour and Tom Wandell got assists.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Stars 10-9 in the period and briefly had the game tied, but allowed a go-ahead goal.

FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Bernier against the Stars’ Richard Bachman.
Stars 1, Kings 0: The Kings killed two penalties in the first half of the first period, but the Stars took the lead on their third power play, as Jamie Benn scored with 6:25 remaining in the period. Michael Ryder made a nice move around Jack Johnson and took the puck to the net. Ryder then fed a pass across to Jamie Benn, who beat Bernier from close range. Trevor Daley also got an assist.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Stars 8-7 but were called for four minor penalties. The Stars will be on the power play for the first 41 seconds of the second period.
