Mitchell, Williams injury updates

To make room for the return of Alec Martinez tonight, the Kings have retroactively put Willie Mitchell on injured reserve. Essentially, they’ve just delayed a decision by a couple days. Mitchell is expected to return on Saturday, at which point the Kings will truly have to free up a roster spot. Mitchell participated in today’s morning skate, and Terry Murray expects him to play Saturday.

MURRAY: “I was just talking with Willie Mitchell out there on the ice. He’s feeling really good. He’s going to have another good, hard skate today, practice tomorrow and then he feels 100 percent that he will be ready to go for that Stars game on Saturday.’’

As for Justin Williams, who suffered a hand injury on Tuesday, Williams will participate in tonight’s warmups. If he feels OK, he will play. Otherwise, Brad Richardson will take his spot.

MURRAY: “Justin, he feels good, he’s pretty confident. What we need to do here is give you an answer after the warmup here tonight. It’s going to be that kind of a decision. But that’s OK for me. I’ll put Brad Richardson in the warmup and have him ready to go. Justin, his hand got better, quite a bit, from yesterday and it will get better here the rest of the day.’’
