Can the first line get it going?

Having scored two or fewer goals in five consecutive games, the Kings will try to bring back some past success. They started the season with a first line of center Anze Kopitar and wingers Simon Gagne and Justin Williams, and that’s the look they will use tonight against Anaheim. All three players need a spark, some more than others. Williams, after a strong start, has gone 17 games without a goal, and Gagne has gone seven. Even Kopitar, who was white-hot early in the season, has cooled, as he has zero goals and one assist in his last five games. The Kings need improved scoring across the board, and the hope is that the new-look/old-look first line can lead the way.

MURRAY: “That line has had good success together. When you go back through the 5-on-5 numbers, Gagne with Kopi and Williams are a line that have put up some pretty good goal-scoring numbers. I’m trying to send the message here, that, `You guys have done it in the past. Now it’s time to start getting it going again.’ I know that everybody is hungry. Justin Williams is a little frustrated, going 17 games and only scoring one goal. He wants to get it back on track. He seems to have brought more of a shot mentality in the last couple games, so just build on it.’’
