As had been expected — initial post here — Kings winger Scott Parse had hip surgery yesterday in Nashville and is expected to be out for 4-5 months. Parse had two goals in nine games this season but the Kings had feared, since the summer, that Parse would require further surgery. He had the other hip repaired last season and missed all but five games. Parse is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next summer. The Kings will not place Parse on long-term injured reserve now, but still have that option if they need some minor salary-cap relief.
Too bad for Scooter. Lets hope he recovers fully!

i think we may have to cut ties with him..

Sure could use him healthy.
And still more promising than anything obviously available in Manchester. His main competition is with our lottery pick.

@5buckcolonnade, don’t forget about loki he is good. And for D there is Hickey and Muzzin. just need some more skill aka cut players like rich clune and start building up a solid offense in the farm team. The Goalies and the D are awesome but the offensive is pretty weak.

Anyone know why they wouldn’t just put him on LTIR now?

@BobKnob, Because it only gives you cap relief, should you need it, and Kings are already under the cap.
If we need those $$$ for cap reasons, say a trade deadline rental, he can be retroactively put on LTIR and make his funds available.

@Token,
thanks.

Sorry to be negative, but he is going to be lucky to play again. That said, I hope he completely recovers and even if he can’t play, at least live a normal and pain free life.

Sorry to see you hurt Parse.
Tha’s pretty much it for you as a King, but hopefully not for your career. Good luck on the surgery, and rehab.
Hope to see you make your way back some day soon, and my prayers go out to you.

@Dominick,
Maybe he rehabs correctly this time and signs for cheap with us next year?

@BobKnob, I hope so.

Wow, must be some sort of congenital condition with his hips, for both to be affected so severly. Too bad.

@Sparman, Not necessarily. It could just be that having one bad hip put too much stress on the good hip and blew it out too. Hopefully what we saw over the last couple years was just him not being 100% and he’ll do better after a full recovery. Whether that’s with the Kings or not… who knows. When he was good though, he was exactly what the Kings need.

man, the Kings could use some of this:

@wes,
I don’t think I’ll ever forget that goal in the first video. That was an amazing play.
Truly heartbreaking to have so many injury problems, but hopefully he can make a full recovery and continue to pursue his dreams.

Scott,
You have already shown a lot of determination in recovering from the last surgery. Time to dig in deeper and do it again. You know the drill, already.
Be assured that everyone in and out of the locker room wishes you a speedy recovery and the opportunity to thrive in the nhl.
Best wishes!!

Disappointing outcome for a guy that has been lauded as having the top 3 offensive skills. Its sad to see him be injured so much at such an early hockey age. But the Kings put more hope into him than I ever did. I always wondered why he was signed for so much money, and put before others. But I agree with others that we have developed strong D and Goalie talent in Manchester, but not offense. Other clubs seem to do a better job of drafting stronger offensive players–but then again, we’ve had Purcell and Moulson…and the Kings gave up on them…and ironically they’ve done better away from the Kings than they did here in LA. What’s up with that.

get well Scott, more to life then hockey my friend……..

Poor guy. I hope this isn’t the end of his career. He made a great case for himself coming back this year and was playing strong. Horrible to have something out of your control decide your future.
