There is some shocking, sad news to report from Dallas. The hotel-room view of the Munters unit has been put to an end. I almost want to knock on the door of a room across the hall, just so I can wave hello to it. But here’s how life looks on the south side. The Kings are scheduled to be at the rink at 11:30 a.m. Central time, for either a meeting or a morning skate.

Good morning, Rich

Big game tonight boys. HUGE 2 points on the line!

Here is a simple sentence. WE WIN.

If we lose tonight Im blaming the change in routine of the hotel rooms and the Munters unit.

@Jess…
Man you stirred some of it up with that captaincy swap-talk!
Just my take – It would be tragic on so many levels internally to strip DB of his captaincy for all the reasons already stated (ie-his hard work, amount of games played per season over the last 6 or so, etc…) and would make the room more awkward then we could imagine. But a change does need to be made and I’ve talked about it with friends (not out loud, of course, for fear of the tar and feathers around here) that I think Brown can be traded sometime during this season for that piece we need (Columbus anyone?). It might disrupt chemistry for a minute but the pure skill (passing/sniping/scoring capabilities) will soon take over, not to mention the replacement “C” (cough*MR*cough)…IMO
Anyway, for the time being I’ll just stick to asking for less turnovers when entering the zone and better passing overall from our Captain.

@Stuart, I would be shocked, surprised and very upset if the Kings were to trade DB. My opinion is it will not happen this season, and more than likely, never.

@Stuart, this is directly directed at you because you are not calling ofr DB to be stripped of his C but, I have to ask, why are people obsessed with this? Does having a C automatically make you the best player on the team? Does the C have to go to the best player on the team? Brown isn’t the most skillful player but, he puts up points. He will get around 30 goals this year.
Is scoring the most important thing though? How about the fact he is one of the few players that lives in LA in the off season? He is credited with gathering the players together in LA for off season workouts and bonding. He is the face of the Kings in LA with all of his charity work. To me, Brown is the Captain, deserves to be the Captain and should be the first King in history to raise the cup.

@ten for instigating,
Terry Rustkowski (sp) was the Captain back in the day, when he was a third liner. But he had more heart than just about anyone, and nobody questioned his position as captain.

@ten for instigating, I think you are right my man. Most of the people in here don’t have a clue. Bernier one a game last night after giving up a weak goal in the first, was great the rest of the way, now they think he should be the #1 goalie. One bad game your OUT and one goal and your the next Bobby Orr(voynov). Its almost to much to take reading some of the comments. Richards is a great player, just the way he is, why mess it up. Athletes are nuts, look what happened to the Kings after 3 straight shout outs, change goalie…boom the whole team forgets how to play hockey.

@Stuart,
Brown is a huge part of this team, I don’t understand all this talk about him. You guys do realize that a guy who puts in 25 goals and crashes like he does is huge, right? And strip him of the C? Not sure I agreed when he became captain, but that is not a good idea right now. And anyone thinking MR is the next captain should understand we’re not even sure he liked having the C in Philly. I think this is all crazy talk. I have no problem with DB in a third line role with Stoll and Clifford maybe, but with the C. That’s perfect for me if we can get an elite winger. There are better trade options. But if you’re thinking an elite winger like Nash, you better be ready to give up Doughty.

@Stuart,
Richards is the man but I think Kopi should have the C. Let’s face it, he has been leading this team from the day he showed up. Stamkos is 21 and already the captain. Richards should be an A. I’ve never seen Greene talking to a ref… I understand he is a presence off the ice but he should give that up.

@Stuart, I’m not going to tar and feather you, but I would like to point out that they have a vapor rub that would take care of that cough.
As far as MR being Captain, he doesn’t want to be Captain, so why does everybody keep bringing his name up? One of the most attractive aspects for Richards in being traded here is the fact that he could just concentrate on being a hockey player again, and all the Browny bashers want to do is turn Richards into exactly what he despised so much about being in Philly.

@Dominick, re: MR being captain, the man was a stellar captain to the hockey equivalent of the NY sports media (probably same caliber of scrutiny) and to come to LA and be the media darling would be like a walk in the park (I’m assuming because I have no first hand experience)… I would think it’s like a coach feeling that itch after being out of the game for a short bit. Once a C always a C for players like MR… and has it ever been printed that “he doesn’t want to be Captain”? I thought it was just assumed that he’d feel less “pressure” without it.
But anyway, a 3rd line role would be cool with me if we can bring up a talented winger who can pass and be baptized by fire playing with either MR or AK (move JW to second line if the rook plays with AK)…everybody was raving about the offensive talent we have in the wings, maybe it’s time to bring one up and see if our roster can withstand the growing pains for some more puck possession (passing ability). I like the way we look, it’s good enough to win low scoring games, and I don’t mind low scoring games that result in 2 pts for us, AT ALL.

@Onetimer1966,
So is DD partying too much or what? What is going on? He hasn’t been down right horrible but he sure as heck has not been good. If he keeps going like he is currently, this will be another season he has declined from his Norris Trophy nomination. I know he is still very young but these are not good signs. Not performing as good or better, taking dumb penalties, getting suspended(probable), holding out! This could really come back to bite.
[Reply]
I’ve told myself I’m going to be more positive in general about the team. I think it is easy to get caught up in all the negativity that is spewed on here, myself included. This is a good team that can win some games. They do need to improve in some areas but it’s a learning process. It’s anybody’s game once the playoffs start. Reading all the hype before the season started, I read several analysis that said this is a team built for the playoffs. That being said, I need to get out my Penner dumping for the day.
When Richards was interviewed last night he said he was finally getting used to his linemates. Now this could have been just interview fluff as most of the interviews are but…
He has 5 goals in 4 games. Penner has been out… hmmm… how many games?
You would have to imagine that Richards is aware of that stat.
The Kings are 7-2 with VV in the line up.
All I’m saying is… if it aint broke… don’t put Penner back in and take VV out.

Well, we had the ‘Munters’ view yesterday and it resulted in a win. Just sayin.
I will also say that we could consider this the ‘MUNSTERS’ view since that freakish gate looks like the one in front of Herman’s house.

I think the parallel is close enough for another win tonight.
We are a highly superstitous bunch though Rich, so if you can go back and get a shot of the Munters, it will only stand to improve our chances.
