Scouting the Ducks

It’s deja vu all over again, as the Kings and Anaheim Ducks meet for the second of their six games this season and their second game in less than 24 hours. A reminder that tonight’s game is a 7 p.m. start and that Bob Miller and Jim Fox will be calling the game on Fox Sports West. The Kings aren’t expected to make any lineup changes. The Ducks will go with backup goalie Dan Ellis. For the latest on the Ducks, check out The Orange County Register’s blog, followed by tonight’s expected lineups for both teams…

    @KFII, back-to-back nights of Quickie? Do we want to burn him out? I love JQ between the pipes but even NJ is sitting Broduer for The Moose for the Devils… I hope both goalies stay fresher for April. ( I would like to see a 55-27 game split for starts).

    GKG! Roast the Ducks.

    when are the quacks gonna learn they need to spread out their top line between the top 2 lines to get things going for them.

    i mean i dont care because it helps our cause out, but why is their coach not trying it out.

    So glad Hiller isn’t in tonight which is shocking .. it was because of him that the Ducks even had a chance last night. But hey..I’m not complaining! GO KINGS! Can’t wait to hear the game. It will be refreshing to not have to hear Haward! Music to my ears!

    @Laura, Very odd maybe a rest, but hiller earned that 1 point.

    @jonsey, I figured out why Ellis was in instead of Hiller. Not sure if you heard the stats before the game, but he is 7-1 against us…lol..but now he’s 7-2! NICE! ;)

    I hope it was his middle finger that got hurt so when Patrick asks how’s the finger, he could flip the camera the bird, and say “just fine Kingsfans”. ;)

    Should be an easy two points. Wish I could be there.

    [Reply]

    Happy Lappy Reply:

    @BMSTANG, there is no such thing as easy 2 points for the Kings, or for that matter, any teams in the league.

    Deke'r Reply:

    @BMSTANG, That’s what Boston was thinking going into Columbus. Hopefully the boys aren’t thinking that way or it’s going to be trouble.

    What’s funny is this post says “The Kings aren’t expected to make any lineup changes,” as if it was written before the news about Richie…perhaps it was!

    This is the fastest line up in a few years for our Kings, should be interesting. I’m guessing the Ducks will try being more physical tonight, keep your heads up Kings.

  11. Happy Lappy says:

    Speaking of Voynov, ok, no one spoke of him, I can’t see any scenario where VV gets sent down, he looks so poised and smart on D, and his skill with the puck offensively is just too good to ignore any longer! Keep him here TM and watch our “Rookie of the Year” perform!

    [Reply]

    jess Reply:

    @Happy Lappy, Agreed,

    If he can put some pucks in the back of the net, that won’t hurt the cause either :)

    [Reply]

    DanielC Reply:

    @Happy Lappy, AMART can be exposed by waivers, Voynov can’t so he will most likely be sent down. I highly doubt management will send Doughty or Johnson and expose them to waivers. So how does Voynov stay? Unless someone is injured he will most likely be a depth player in Manch. until room is made

    [Reply]

    jess Reply:

    @DanielC,

    IF VV proves out to be that “key ingredint” (and BTW I like Amart) then it will be up to management to conjure up some creative provisions to keep him here.

    [Reply]

    Scot Reply:

    @DanielC,

    This is when you TRADE Martinez! When he’s healthy again.. Especially if Voynov continues to improve & impress. I understand Martinez’ value might be at it’s lowest (coming off injury, also other teams know the Kings won’t need him, giving the other team leverage) — But what’s more important? Getting as much as you can for Martinez (when it’s not going to be very much anyway, even at his peak value)? Or putting the best team on the ice?

    Put the best team on the ice, & trade Martinez to Columbus, where he’s from, for a 3rd Round Pick. They need him more than we do.

    [Reply]

    Happy Lappy Reply:

    @DanielC, Trades happen

    [Reply]

    wavesinair Reply:

    @Happy Lappy,

    I was thinking the same thing last time… I still think he’ll be a regular by season’s end. He’s already this year’s Simmonds/Clifford even without making it out of camp.

    Gotta Love these back to back Games. Nothing like having a couple of Kings games to break up the week. Last night we simply beat their asses. It’s hard to beat any team in the NHL 3 periods in a row. There is just to much talent. The way the Kings kept attacking the net should keep Coach Terry around for awhile. Good to see that he has loosen the chain a little with his club. This team looks like the team we were told we were going to see. Of course winning will do that. Even when we lose, playing through our struggles and keeping focused on one game at a time. This team has nowhere else to go but up. Tonights game is going to be tough. Ducks are going to come out hard and fast. Look for them to have more shots on goal tonight. This team has to much offensive talent. But if we stay the course, play our game not theirs all should work out for a 3-2 win for us. Take it to the bank and deposit the check this game is ours.
