Williams postgame quotes (Nov. 16)

Justin WIlliams’ postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)

WILLIAMS: “We let them hang around. We couldn’t get that second goal past the goalie and unfortunately they scored to tie it up. It’s tough giving up a point to a division opponent but we got two.’’

(on the high shot count…)
WILLIAMS: “We certainly did have more focus on throwing the puck to the net. Hiller made a lot of great stops, but when we get ahead, we need to try to put teams away.’’

(on whether there was talk on the bench of shooting high in the shootout…)
WILLIAMS: “I think most of us on the bench don’t want to tell someone to do something, and then they mess it up and it doesn’t work. They don’t want to be responsible for that. [smiles] But no, I was thinking shot. The ice obviously isn’t great, after three periods and overtime, regardless of how good they flood. So I think shooting the puck is probably the way to go, especially for me, because I don’t really have a go-to move that I’m going to use out there. But it was nice to get the win.’’

(on the 5-on-3 goal…)
WILLIAMS: “We had a lot of shots in the first half of the game and weren’t able to get one by. We were fortunate to have a 5-on-3 and we capitalized on it, but our power play needs to do a better job of getting that second goal, so we can have a little breathing room.’’
