Kings will try to save it for the game

Coaches use their intuition to determine when it’s best to push players and when it’s best to back off, and for the Kings, today was a clear case of the latter for Terry Murray Tomorrow’s game against Vancouver will be the third in four nights for the Kings, with another game coming up Saturday. Energy is best saved for games, so when players showed up today, they were only put through an off-ice workout before heading home. Those who didn’t play last night — Davis Drewiske, Colin Fraser, Trent Hunter, Kevin Westgarth and Jonathan Quick — went through an on-ice drills session with the assistant coaches, and the team will be back on the ice tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the traditional morning skate.

MURRAY: “We had a team workout, and some guys went on the ice and did some work with the goaltenders, but it’s four games in six days. There’s a lot of energy that’s required, so it was the decision to stay off (the ice) today and stay active, just do a little activity with the off-ice work.’’
