It’s only fitting that Jonathan Bernier would record his first win of the season against the Nashville Predators. Bernier, who had lost his first two starts of this season, stopped 27 of 30 shots last night as he improved his career record against the Predators to 5-1-1. The Predators scored two first-period goals, after the Kings had taken a 2-0 lead, but they didn’t beat Bernier again until the final two minutes, when they pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Terry Murray was asked today for his assessment of Bernier’s game.
MURRAY: “Overall, good. The first period, there were a couple goals. The second goal, in particular, I’d like to see him have that one. Short-side, inside the circle, top of the circle. Normally he would have that save, but I think maybe he had lost the view of the shooter for an instant, in that quick look. But he really came back and played very well. As we got through the second and third periods, I think he was sharp, on the angle, and really settled things down when the opportunity was there.’’
Jonathan Quick will start Thursday against Vancouver, his 13th start in the Kings’ 16 games.
