Scott Parse took only three shifts in the first period before he left the game with what was announced as a “lower-body injury.” After the game, Terry Murray wasn’t any more descriptive, but did describe Parse’s status as “a little more than day-to-day.”
Trent Hunter and Kevin Westgarth have been the regular healthy scratches, and the Kings have been strongly considering getting Colin Fraser into some games, so that might be an option if Parse will be out for an extended period. Andrei Loktionov, who has performed well in Manchester this season, would also be an option if the Kings looked to call up a player.
Ok, how’s this:
1. TM is a lock for coach of the year.
2. The “Shot Mentality” approach is a stroke of pure genius and is being replicated throughout the league.
3. Penner is on fire. What a talent! He will be on Leno tonight.
4. Bench Kopitar because of that horrendous -1 game. No room for dead weight on this Juggernaut!
5. Bernier ascends to the throne as the #1 goaltender
6. Doughty is a bargain at just 7M a year.
7. Mikus passed gas into the ventilation intake duct of the hotel the Preds were staying at last night. Nobody slept.
8. Wayne Gretzky was seen at the LAKings store putting back a Voynov jersey, and picking up a Martinez.
9. Westgarth almost blew the game for us with all those stupid penalties. He sucks.
10. The Kings just need to have the exact same amount of shots as their opponent to ensure a victory.
11. The cold gray morning has once again turned into a bright sunny day!
Did I miss anything?

Only 16 comments before me, but still to lazy/drunk to read them. My take? Should anyone care (hopefully CB14, desertking, Andrew: 2nd etc., and maybe jess or colo kings..regular posters might) I hope Lokti gets a chance this year. I have a very large opinion, both pro and con for this and would love for a debate of either with a regular commenter/fan. Please inquire?

P.s definitely no offense to regular commenters I didn’t mention, I’m a neuroscience M.S. student so I dont comment all the time, but at least once per entry on average so hope I have the equivalent to respond.

@colo king fan,
My opinion? Trade AM… I KNOW he buried one tonight, but he also cost us one and has been weak weak weak (did I say weak?) this year. I feel like 3 D lines of 3 defensive D and 3 SOLID offensive D (e.g. DD, JJ, VV… the alliterative line haha) would be the most potent D corps in ALL THE LAND *muah hahaha* (evil laugh)

@kingsxstevenxkings, I’m on board with that as well. I’ve never been a big Martinez fan. His upside isn’t high enough IMO to keep him with the Kings, and VV in Manchester. Get VV up here now.

@kingsxstevenxkings,
I feel we’re symbiotic right now. AM is a “good” player.. there’s no doubt that he still has an upside from his current position, but the major considerations here are 1.) Is there someone to replace him with equal talent? 2.) Will they develop as well and/or better? 3. Do we have more options if this fails?
My answers:
1.) Yes, VV
2.) Yes, absolutely
3.) GOD Yes, we have D out the wazoo

@kingsxstevenxkings,
Hahaha! It’s time like these that I feel like my hockey past (which was *toots own horn* at a very high level) combined with the past of many serious fans would result in a better Combo-GM situation than we have (not that I “hate” DL). I feel like there’s some decisions that the business and coaching side is reluctant to make because of the waves it would create

@kingsxstevenxkings, I would like to see Lokti called up to be the 3rd line Center. I’m not a big Stoll fan, and I think he would get plenty of minutes as the 4th line C with PP and PK time. Lokti is a playmaker, pure and simple. Stoll is not, that’s why I’m not a big fan of his play. Here’s my ideal bottom 2 lines:
Parse – Lokti – Richardson
Clifford – Stoll – Lewis
I would send Hunter down for conditioning and keep Moreau and Westy in the press box. Now that Parse is injured I could see Lokti being called up. I hope it happens. Being with Parse and Richardson I feel that line could help with the offensive woes this team has. I was mad when he was sent down the second time last year. Outside of tonight’s game, Stoll hasn’t done much.

@CB14,
I agree Lokti would help the 3rd line become a contributing line (which we could definitely use right now), although I’m not as against Stoll as you seem to be. I think Stoll is great and I love his fire this season, although I think he’s takin the “3rd line” role a little to seriously. He seems to have decided he’ll no long contribute to offense and instead check or instigate. ALTHOUGH!, if Lokti comes up he’s NEVER a 4th line player. He’s a 3rd line center minimum and even that’s low for him… But can we get into his size? Which is a serious consideration….

@kingsxstevenxkings, I should clarify that I’m not that down on Stoll as a 3rd line Center, I think it’s a good fit for him, I just disliked him when he was our 2nd line Center.

@kingsxstevenxkings,
I agree about Stoll on that. To be honest, I’m a huge Stoll fan. The man works hard, is obviously brilliant on faceoffs and CAN contribute. But, I do agree.. the man is a 3rd line center, but he’s a great 3rd line center.

@kingsxstevenxkings, I really like Martinez despite his slow start, but VV looks to be a special player. There is that issue of Martinez being left shot and VV being a right shot. Greene is also a right shot.
I would like to see Loktionov moved to 3rd line center with Stoll taking RW and Richardson to 3rd line LW.
Fraser instead of Loktionov? Seriously? Back away from that bong.

@KC23, Yes Loktionov would get the experience he needs at center and if anyone can make a switch to wing, it would be Stoll rather than a rookie. That would be a great passing line, unsure how the finish would be. Not sure Stoll has a future with the Kings unless he can play wing since Lokti won’t stay in the minors forever. Glad to see Martinez get the goal finally. I’m sure he’s feeling some heat to produce with VV lurking.

Scott Parse has to be the unluckiest player. Every time it seems he is about to break out, he gets injured. He just can’t catch a break. Poor guy. Unfortunately it is probably going to cost him a spot on the Kings, as there are others waiting in the wings to take his place. Whether on the roster now or in Manchester.

@Jeff, I agree. The guy can score if given the chance. Unfortunately he always gets slowed down by an injury. In years past one injury could destroy a full line if not the full team depending on the importance of a player. I love the depth of this team now. We just slide somebody else in and we have great 1-4 lines.
Now we just have to get the offense going, let the defense do its thing and we will win most of our games. If not for a few unlucky bounces we could easily have two or three more wins and be considered elite. It’s a good thing that happened in a way… We are now off the radar!!!
