The Kings are practicing this afternoon with some new-look lines, which actually bring them closer to a look with which they started the season…

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Penner-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Parse
Moreau-Lewis-Richardson

@outsider, not trying to be negative, but Scott parse is brutal. He shouldn’t have even made this team. Loktionov is better than parse including playing on the wing.

@#unclewillyson, YUP, I have got in arguements about puttng him on the top line with Kopi, which the Kings have done and it worked. Parse should not be in the line up over Hunter or Lewis, hell might even be thinking Fraser at this point.

@#unclewillyson, Lokti has a career 0.35 points per game average on the wing, and only played wing with the Kings for the first time ever (and didn’t even like it). Parse plays wing, and has a 0.42 career average points per game. How exactly is Lokti better than Parse on the wing?

@Dominick, Lokti is more creative, he’s younger (more upside), and he doesn’t take bad penalties. There are 3 reasons.

But I still agree with playing Parse. Lokti is a center. Let him play high minutes at his natural position. He’ll be ready to make this team next year.

@outsider, Parse was without speed last night. moreau needs to quit taking dumb penalties. A lot of Kings players were slashing the hands of the Pequins last night. They need to skate harder and they won’t have to slash. Come on guys lets get skating and quit being lazy.

@rogiesbackup, You are right about him being too slow for the first and second line. But 3rd line? Do you really want Patrick Kane skating circles around him all game? He has turned himself into a 4th line player. I don’t know how he managed to do it. But that’s exactly what he is. Actually he doesn’t have enough grit for the 4th line.

Expect a call from the softball team soon Penner. Unless you want to prove me wrong tonight. Playing against your old team didn’t spark anything, so maybe playing the team we could of beat if you did ANYTHING in the playoffs will.

Penner and a 3rd round draft pick to bring Simmer back home.

Also last night we actually looked good….change after a game where we didnt play well.I think that second period upset the coach.I can predict alot of upset fans that Penner was moved to the second line but I actually thought he ‘s been playing witn=hin the system…

It’s truly difficult to understand why this coach says things like this then, after they play far better than they have, he goes right ahead and contradicts everything he said above only a couple of days later.

I’m not looking to bash, I just with someone could explain to me how this makes any kind of sense. I don’t get it.

I think he’s overplaying his tough guy role. Couple times he’s went for the hit even though the puck squirted out, and he’s trying to make every hit a monster one. Just ride that guy into the boards and seal him off.

@CB14, Just like JJ is learning you can’t make an offensive play every time you are on the ice. Moreau needs to learn you can’t make a devastating hit every time you are on the ice.

He was very lucky to only receive the 2 minute penalty.
And don’t get me started on the slash into the hands when we were already a man down. Just because you don’t wear the “C” anymore it doesn’t mean you can act like it.

Not sure how Penner is being rewarded, hasn’t it already been proven the Penner/Richards/Brown line DOES NOT WORK, hell the first line isn’t really working. Since the start of the season I have been saying the Kings should make the 2nd line the flyers line with Gagne/Richards/Williams and the 3rd line the Oilers line with Penner/Stoll/Moreau, they did the Oilers line last night and from what I saw it worked for a 3rd line.

But I was never really for it before but I am now thinking it is time for the kings coaching staff to go. Changing the coach worked for the Penguins, maybe it will work for the KIngs.

@wavesinair, They looked good at the start, well brown and richrads did, but since I just haven’t seen them be the same. This team on paper should not be this bad, and any pleyr switched around between the top lines you would think would produce reguardless of who they play with. But maybe it is time to just complete change the lines and see what happens. I know it is hard to build chemistry that way but with how much TM changes things I am thinking it wont hurt. And like I posted above, maybe even give Fraser a look.

Then he sits Quick on a 3 shutouts in a row streak

Bottom line, he is going to do whatever he wants reguardless of what he has said. Looks more like someone who doesn’t know how to deal with the issues of the team so he just flip flops on everything.

They don’t seem to have problems scoring lately, they beat Colorado 7-6 in OT the other day. The pacific division is going to be SUPER tough all year, Kings better get their stuff together.

TM is trying to do all he can, but frankly it’s not enough. Maybe the team has given up on him. I doubt it! Keep losing and they will. He is contradicting, hardheaded, shows no emotion. Thanks for getting us to the playoffs Terry, thanks for bringing a winning mentality, thanks foe showing us how to play Defense, but it’s time for you to move on. Not just you but your whole staff. We need to do some new things. Our team is way to predicable when it comes to offense. If you guys think that we are going to make the playoffs with how the last few games have gone, your crazier then I think. Shake things up Dean! This club has to much talent to watch it be wasted with your dump and chase system. Boring and outdated. The system won’t work if your players are not hitting. I haven’t seen a single big hit all year. Gagne is the only man willing to go to the front. Smitty did it for us last year. I know no one is reading this other than fellow insiders, so to you guys I say thanks for let me blow off some steam. Don’t you just hate it when you see good talent being flushed down the toilet.

Obviously the players, coaching staff nor the managment reads the blogs……….as if they did TM would not be doing what he is doing right now.

Its all about money and decisions of upper management, they goofed on Penner however will not admit it through ice time or opportunity.

3rd line of Clifford, Lewis, Richardson is the combination you want TM. Then have Parse, Stoll, Moreau……I cannot believe we continue to blog with no one from the team reading this stuff…….

Some of it is very good, very intellegent and then there is some that is subjective and created only to get others going or mad.

@Harty, You are exactly right brother. No one from the “staff” reads our blog. It might do some folks some good. You would think the upper management would want to hear from it’s fan base. Like you said to much $ envolved. We are the one’s who in the end suffer the most. We pay big $ to go to a game. Some of us save for months just to make a game every year. The more $ you have the louder your voice. It’s just the way it is. I’ve learned so much from you fellow insiders the last few years. I would be lost if I didn’t have this place to come. Voicing our opinions, releasing our emotions, and meeting new friends $ can’t change. Recently I lost a long term friendship over the mighty $. I may not agree with everybody, but I try not to judge anybody. I just want my hockey club to win some games and a coach who is stable. TM may be feeling the heat, cause around this web site it’s getting Hot, real Hot!

TM definitely seemed to be stressing hard during the first period. After we failed to socre on that 5-3 PP (again), they showed TM standing behind the bench and it looks like he swallowed his brain. He had that look on his face that said “Uh oh, that may cost me.” TM should take a page out of Machiavelli’s book and throw JK under the bus.

Why not put Hunter back in? And can we all stop pretending that Richardson is any good. What does he do? He’s cold for a third of the season then he gets hot for two weeks and then he is gone like the wind again. Every year. And EM might not be NHL quality right now. And for everyone who wants to raid Manchester, there’s nothing left. Yeah there is Loktionov and Voynov, but if you grab them now, it will take another 10 years of rebuilding to get the quality down there again. Maybe Penner could at least get us some prospects.

After the top 5 forwards, there is a steep drop off. So basically our top two lines are producing, not really all that well, and everyone else is struggling to earn points.

Yes, let’s replace our entire bottom 6, including Jarret Stoll, because for some reason we can’t score goals as a team.

Do you guys even watch games or do you just lookup stats? Brad Richardson has been playing well. Count all the times he beats players one on one and creates chances for himself. I’d bet if you counted scoring chances by player he’s be near the top.

Rearranging the furniture isnt the answer. The Kings have one of the worst shooting percentages in the league so far. Why does a team have such poor shooting? Either (A) you have a bunch of guys with no hands/skill or (B) you take low percentage shots all the time.
While our 3rd/4th lines do consist of guys with great ‘compete’ but no hands, I dont believe our top lines lack skill… so it must be because the players have ‘shot mentality’ drilled into their heads so much that they just come into the O zone and fire away worthless long shots without traffic (yes, I’m talkin to you, DB), or play on the perimeter and eventually have the D take low percentage shots that are easily saved without rebounds, or blocked.

Kopi and JW are always willing to try to make plays in traffic, so I have no problems with the #1 line. The second ine is a mess cause theyre all on different pages. Brown just fires willy nilly and doesnt seem to have much forecheck presence this year. Richards is playing like he has two skilled linemates who he can try to set up and all his work goes for naught. Penner just seems lost. I would imagine half of his goals during his 30+ goal season came from within 10′ of the net; I cant remember any shots of his from that close so far this year. Parse seemed to be developing some chemistry with Richards but they arent left together long enough to find out. At this point I’d like to see Richardson given a chance with Parse and Richards.

Last year our 3rd line could often do some damn good cycling (even if they sometimes cycled for 30 seconds without the puck ever moving more than 2′ from the boards and into a scoring position).. this year our bottom lines never seem to bring any forecheck pressure. They are either too late to the corner or too meek… not enought banging. From this aspect we really miss Simmonds. The guys we have dont have the skills to develop offense on their own, so when they are on the ice, it’s a perfect time for getting the D more involved. Let the forwards smash away, feed the points and crash for dirty rebound goals. At least set the tone for the top lines by getting everyone’s juices flowing.

As for our D, I dont have many complaints. I’m still giving DD the benefit of the doughty since he’s missed so much camp/injury time.. it’d sure be nice if he started contributing something soon, tho.

Honestly, how is any player, let alone Westgarth, suppose to get in any kind of rythem if he is only playing less then 3 minutes a game? I am not saying he should be playing 25 minutes, but 3 minutes? What was the point of playing him in the 1at place?
You are right, this guy is a clown, and needs to canned along with Kompon, I cant them anymore.

last year the team looked more like a solid unit. this year it’s not quite clicking. we can all see that something’s off. last game looked good. we played a solid game against a tough team. putting penner back on line 2 is pointless, he brings nothing to the line. hopefully richards can play a bank-shot off penner for his first goal i’m hopin to see DB step up against san jose. to me, DB looks a little unhappy or upset out there.. is he mad about the coaching you think? i wanna see some more like those goals we had against pittsburgh… lets go kings

@letswinthecup2012, I also noticed how unhappy Brown looked on the bench lsst game. Something is definitely bothering him. You have to wonder. Hoping for a good game tonight.

Hope I didn’t miss anyone.

Penner is not there because he’s getting ready to make his season debut with the hockey club Sahara Desert Nomads, coached by Terry Murray.

The only thing we can hope for are more losses under TM so he can go sooner. Sometimes you need to root for the short term bad to ensure the long term good of this team.
