Power-play percentage up, chances down

The Kings’ power-play percentage has improved this season, even as the number of opportunities has decreased slightly. Last season, the Kings averaged 3.56 power plays per game. This season, it has dipped slightly to 3.42. In three games this season, the Kings had only one power-play chance, and in the last game, against Edmonton, they had two. Any reason? Justin Williams indicated that it might be more of a league-wide trend…

WILLIAMS: “A lot of teams, right now, maybe aren’t chasing from behind. They’re already back, already sitting back waiting for you to come to them, so they’re not chasing from behind, hooking you and holding you. They’re already back and in position. We’ve got to find ways to get through them.’’
