Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on the bad-bounce goal…)
QUICK: “It just took an unexpected bounce. It hit something and it jumped out. It was coming along the wall and I was just going to stop it and leave it. We were on the PK and I believe it was Scuderi who was coming in to do a hard rim. It just took a hard hop off the wall. Nothing you can do about that. It’s just a crappy bounce.’’
(on whether he was screened on Duchene’s goal…)
QUICK: “Yeah, a bit. He came down with a lot of speed. He made a great shot and he put it in a real good spot. I don’t think me or the defenseman could have played it any differently. He made a real good shot. You’ve got to tip the cap to a player like that, when he does something like that.’’
Exactly what I said about the goal. DD played it the best way he could have against a player with that much speed, but he put it through a pair of legs and top corner..That’s just an amazing shot.

@kingsxstevenxkings, DD had slow reaction time, like everything else about him, his timing is off.

@jimrad, Nice that Hunter gave up on the play. If Hunter takes two strides he can pressure Duchene from behind. Bet he doesn’t play Thursday night. Weak effort. Parse got as lucky goal, but quit with the penalties.

@brian spain, Parse’s last 2 goals were more right place right time, but hitting the puck with the shaft of your stick in mid air shows skill. He atleast deserves credit for working to get himself in scoring position.
I do agree about the penaties most of them in the Ozone they have been bad ones to take. He needs to learn that young players don’t get away with much in the NHL.

@jimrad, That’s what happens when you miss training camp. He should have been there!

@kingsxstevenxkings, What? Doughty played that poorly, he backed up so far to to where Duchene was almost inside of the circles, and to top it off, screened the goalie on the shot. The right way to play that would’ve been stepping up and forcing Duchene to make a move or take a low percentage shot.

@Nyck, not to mention it was DD’s turnover that started that play coming down our throats…

@Nyck, Quick is a team guy. I would say it could create problems if Quick just threw DD under the bus on that play. DD has played better and will again soon. I dont think harassing him will improve his play faster.

Get some rest JQ, 3 games in 4 nights was too much to ask from you. Not your fault.

Shake it off Quick… There’s more hockey to be played this year! GO KINGS GO!!!

Tough night for Quick. I was at the game. First goal looked bad. 2nd goal completely not his fault. 3rd goal, could have gone either way, not a “bad” goal, if you see it from a good angle (and I did, on that one.) So, for the shot count, it looks like he stunk it up, but it’s not like he didn’t make good saves. I’d say the first goal, though, he should definitely want back. Frankly, if I had to characterize the game, I’d say the Avs cruised to a lucky win, in which they really didn’t play very hard and didn’t have to.

It is all good Quick you shouldn’t have been playing today but you have a bad coach. So you know get some rest because you are most likely going to play 72 games again.

Free Lokti! Free Voynov! Occupy their… (other team’s) net! Take TM off SSRI’s. Put Brown back on the other wing! Send Penz back to the great white north or Siberia, (whichever is cheaper)! Send DD off to live in squalor mounted atop a donkey (so that he may once again be humble)!!
Thank you Richards!!
Thank you Quick!!
Thank you Kopi!!
(and others who are worthy I may have missed)
Goodnight Fellow KF’s:)

Some of these posts make it look like JQ blew this game. Lets look at the goals:
1. Shorthander that he should have had
2. Crazy bounce that no one could have anticipated
3. Laser beam shot that went past DD and found the upper corner of the net
Sorry, but this isn’t on JQ. The team as a whole just has to play better offensively to overcome these types of games where we get some bad breaks.

@DesertKing, I think Quick was thrown off by an uncalled offsides, for maybe a split-second.

@chip, Yeah, he was definitely peeved about something; it almost looked like he was mad at Doughty for screening him.

@DesertKing, I might be wrong and probably am since nobody else had mentioned it, but I thought the dman coming back on the first goal clipped Quick just enough at the side of the net which prevent him from getting over fast enough.

First, for Quick …. how about that left to right splits to stop the puck with his toe?!?!?
Whao!! …how many goalies in any league anywhere, are that flexible, athletic, and strong. That was
the insane save of the year to me. Also, I think if that bad bounce doesn’t happen …and we went into overtime, we’d all be talking about what an exciting game that was! Didn’t any of you guys go to bed thinking, bummer we lost, but exciting game! I can swear I even saw a pulse out of Pens & Parse out there… now it they can just stay out of the penalty box….

Other than the Shortie I dont fault Quicker at all for the goals. The second goal was a fluke bounce that should never had happened and any ohter goalie in the league would have done the same thing. The 3rd goal….you could fault Doughty for turning it over which i do but that was just a great shot! He put that puck the only place it had any chance of going in and it also came through Dewy’s legs. Movin on…..
