There have been a few questions about the schedule for the Kings’ alternate jerseys this season. As noted last month, the Kings will honor three former players as part of their “Legends Night” series and will wear their vintage purple-and-gold uniforms for those games. The Kings will also wear their third jerseys — which are last year’s home jerseys — six times. Here’s the rundown…
VINTAGE JERSEY NIGHTS
Dec. 10 vs. Dallas (Bernie Nicholls Night)
Jan. 2 vs. Colorado (Daryl Evans Night)
Feb. 18 vs. Calgary (Charlie Simmer Night)
THIRD-JERSEY NIGHTS
Nov. 3 vs. Edmonton
Nov. 8 vs. Nashville
Dec. 8 vs. Minnesota
Jan. 5 vs. Phoenix
Jan. 12 vs. Dallas
Feb. 16 vs. Phoenix
The Kings will also wear the third jerseys for two road games, at St. Louis on Nov. 22 and at Dallas on Nov. 23.

@bonvivant1, Had to keep the old home because they didn’t want to eat the “dead stock” they still had. I hope the “Legends” jersey becomes the full time third in the 2012-13 season, it would look great with a Stanley Cup Champion patch on the sleeve.

No. The vintage 3rd jerseys are obviously the purple and gold jerseys and the “third” jerseys are just our primary jersey that we had the past couple of years. Except I read somewhere that the crown won’t have the purple in it. It will be black instead. Just like the new primary jersey logo. So if you already had last years primary jersey, then you are good.

One thing I will say is this, i was not a big fan of our *new* primary homeplate jerseys but it’s actually grown on me…and one thing which struck me is that over the past few road games i’ve been to, i ALWAYS get complements on the black jerseys. other fans really dig them. i’m not saying that’s the benchmark we should use, but it is funny when people say “I hope you lose, but nice sweater!”

Dallas’ third jersey is white, but St. Louis’ third jersey is the one they wore when the Kings beat them last week. It might be a trade off that the Kings made with the Blues so the Kings could wear their white jersey at home.

I’m pretty sure every night is Daryl Evans Night. So what makes January 2nd so special?
I have to admit I’m liking the new primary jerseys. I didn’t think I would, but watching them live and on TV really brings me back to the Gretz era. Perhaps that was the plan, I dunno. But I’m not hating them like I thought I would.

I’m trying to like the Home Plate sweater, still not growing on me yet. I like the style of the new sweaters and the material, but just not the home plate logo. Love the team..no matter what they wear, but I want the BIG Crown logo on my teams sweater. Just my opinion and taste.

The funny thing about the homeplate is it’s supposed to be a shield, yet the Kings already did a shield jersey that was actually cool and makes this one look like, well, homeplate.

The current third jersey is THE best jersey the Kings ever had–next to the original purple and silver crown third jersey they came out with after changing to the shield jersey (pretty much the same jersey, except I liked the lace-up style.)

@KC23, That’s interesting. Hadn’t seen any of those comments. I’m sort of neutral on them. I think it’s more appropriate for a road jersey, for example, to say “LA” than a home jersey. In that regard, I think they’re better than the home jerseys. The road jersey’s don’t offend me, however. Yes, though, I do prefer purple, and I do prefer the crown.

@Jerry B, Same dispute happened last year with Dish Network. I lost all games for like a month or so, before both sides kissed and made up. I almost bolted over to Direct TV, but the more I read about the situation, I saw that this year was when Direct TV’s agreement with Fox would expire so I didn’t want to go through this all over again. It all worked out. If Direct TV doesn’t work out a deal, they will lose quite a lot of customers in the long run. That’s why Fox has been trying to bleed providers dry.

Why does everyone think the “home plate” is a new concept? The original logo was a similar shape.

Make the 3rd jersey the home jersey again and burn the ugly black and white jerseys the wear now. A jersey is not a king jersey without the crown on the front and purple in it. The raiders are black, white and silver not the kings. Oh well saving me money as I’m not buying anything until the new jerseys are gone. Will just wear what I have already.
