Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on Jonathan Quick’s shutout…)
MURRAY: “Any time a goaltender gets a shutout, obviously everybody contributes and the defensemen are doing a big job. You’ve got to give the goaltender a lot of the credit. He’s focused, he’s dialed in to the play and aggressive to the shots, and I thought tonight he was again on his game. He just followed up his game in Phoenix, where he probably playing as good as he has all year and brought the same game here tonight.’’
(on Johnson’s third game-winning goal of the season…)
MURRAY: “Well, how about that? It’s one of those plays — we talk about it often — where you just want to shoot the puck at the net. You don’t know what’s going to happen. In this case, it’s just a faceoff win and Scuderi passes across. That’s a tough play for a goalie. He’s got to come from the middle of the net, now, over to that one-timer that’s coming. There’s a lot of traffic. You’ve got their five players and you’ve got our three forwards down there in that mix, off the faceoff win, and that’s why it’s critical to get the puck on a clean faceoff and get it back. I think it went off one of their players and it ends up being the game-winning goal. That’s the way it goes in close games like this one here tonight.’’
(on the biggest part of Quick’s game, when he’s `on’…)
MURRAY: “Concentration. I think his mechanics, his technique, his style is in place. He’s a goaltender who is instinctive. He reacts to the play. But he does have a good foundation. To me, sometimes playing a lot of games, you lose your concentration for a short period of time sometimes. Right now, he’s dialed in.’’
Awsome job closing down the nuetral zone. 3rd period got away from the guys a little, and Dallas did some pressing, but you can’t control it for the full 60. Very big defensive battle, and patience payed off. I think if you would of pressed the Kings might of made some mistakes somewhere. Excellent job keeping the boys focused.

Like i said at the start, one shut out at a time.
Good job Quicks

Did anyone think that getting 2pts from Dallas this early in the season would have been:
A. That much of a challenge? or
B. Considered this big?

@Scott, B. Do you remember the conferance condition’s last season! The West is now as competative as the East. You fool around with losses in the beginging of the season, you spend the rest of the season turning thos losses into wins. And that’s really tough to do.
See: Guy Boucher, Jacques Martin.

@TheZamboniMechanic2, You watched a different game than I did. No King that I saw had a particularly bad game.

@TheZamboniMechanic2, i thought penner shoulda got a star IMHO. set up 2 sick scoring chances and was physical.. made the gritty plays to get the puck in deep, nothing special but effective.. those plays arent as visible or make the highlight reel. all around solid game.. go kings!!!

@TheZamboniMechanic2, Agreed. He looked lost at times standing around watching the play. Bad decisions with the puck. Very inconsistent.

@TheZamboniMechanic2, The first 2 periods he played very lazy. No look backhand passes to nobody, standing around on dump-ins and board play, just lazy. Someone had his ear in the 2nd intermission because he played a nice 3rd period. I guess he’s just one of those players who needs to be constantly fed drive and motivation. Richards & Moreau will take care of that for sure!

@puck73,
For some unless he scores 4 goals a night he will suck. They can’t pick up on the little things a player does to help their team win.

Props to Dallas. They didn’t look like they played last night.

Penner haters are annoying.

Been sceptical about Penner in the past, but I think he played a very solid game last night.

I’m thrilled about the way Penner has played recently. Yes, as a top 6 forward you are looking for some points but I think they will come any time soon.

@FromSwedenWithLove, 44 players on the ice ,and 1 has a goal 2 had an assist. If the scores stay this low, and we keep winning, there will still be haters & trolls.
