It’s a Saturday night at Staples Center, with the call on Fox Sports West and 1150-AM and affiliates, and with all the game updates here as well…
THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Raycroft.
Kings 1, Stars 0: The scoreless tie was finally broken with 4:58 remaining in the third period. Mike Richards won an offensive-zone faceoff back to Rob Scuderi, who passed left. Jack Johnson fired a high, one-time slap shot through traffic and beat Raycroft to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.
End of game: Jonathan Quick set a Kings franchise record with his third consecutive shutout and Jack Johnson recorded his third game-winning goal of the season.
SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Raycroft.
End of period: Another scoreless period is in the books, but it’s been entertaining, with the teams trading quality scoring chances. Fittingly, the shot total is close, with the Stars holding a 21-19 edge. The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill in the period.
FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It is Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Stars’ Andrew Raycroft.
End of period: The Stars outshot the Kings 10-9 in a period devoid of power plays. There was a fight, as Mike Richards battled Steve Ott late in the period.
Lets Get It On!

Just saw on the screen that Fox sports may be dropped on November 1. I have Directv and watching the game. What the message did not say was that the owner of Fox Sports network is asking for a 40 percent rate increase. If Directv does this who will be paying this bill. I know my bill will go up. Thanks Fox. Thanks Directv. Hmm, Occupy Newscorp? I am only mentioning this because of the message they posted on TV.

if the Kings would’ve put the puck in their own net on the delayed penalty, i know Quick wouldn’t get charged with it, but if he didn’t allow any goals in the game, would he get credit with a shut out? @BruceM5,
As was stated by Ron Hextall,
Voynov’s play is not the reason he would be sent back to Manchester. 44DD and Martinez would both have to clear waivers to go back and Voynov doesn’t. That is the only reason he would be sent down. He is NHL Ready.

First off, great win. Congrats to Quick for the new Kings records. It felt like a playoff game tonight.
I’m a little concerned about the lack of scoring chances. They had a bunch in the first 10 minutes and not much the rest of the game. Maybe they are playing a bit too defensively? I know Dallas is playing a similar defensive system so that may play into it.
The only other thing that stuck out was Penner wasn’t very good in the first two periods but he was much better in the third. I’ve been behind Penner since day one but he was noticeably poor in the first 40 minutes. It wasn’t an effort thing, he just made a couple of bad decisions. But he was much, much better in the third.
