Kings 1, Stars 0: The scoreless tie was finally broken with 4:58 remaining in the third period. Mike Richards won an offensive-zone faceoff back to Rob Scuderi, who passed left. Jack Johnson fired a high, one-time slap shot through traffic and beat Raycroft to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.
End of game: Jonathan Quick set a Kings franchise record with his third consecutive shutout and Jack Johnson recorded his third game-winning goal of the season.
SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Raycroft.
End of period: Another scoreless period is in the books, but it’s been entertaining, with the teams trading quality scoring chances. Fittingly, the shot total is close, with the Stars holding a 21-19 edge. The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill in the period.
FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It is Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Stars’ Andrew Raycroft.
End of period: The Stars outshot the Kings 10-9 in a period devoid of power plays. There was a fight, as Mike Richards battled Steve Ott late in the period.
