Morning skate explanation, pictures

As noted earlier, the Kings had an optional morning skate, which is nothing groundbreaking for a road game. Typically, after the turn of the calendar, Terry Murray goes with optional skates, although all players are still required to report to the rink and do off-ice work. Here are Murray’s thoughts on the skate, followed by a quick set of photos from this morning at Jobing.com Arena…

MURRAY: “It’s more because of the awareness to the long trip. I just want to make sure we’re fully recovered, coming back here, before asking too much from the guys. I’ll get back to full morning skates, maybe at the end of this month, and then start to back off again around the end of December. Jan. 1 is usually a time when I start to go that other route again. It’s just to get as much rest as possible right now.’’
