Simon Gagne’s postgame thoughts…
(on the win…)
GAGNE: “It’s what we wanted (in) the first game at home in front of your fans. We want to show what type of team we are and it’s good to get the first win and get a lot of goals for the fans. It’s always fun to go to a hockey game and see some goals. Overall we did play a good game as a team.’’
(on the team’s potential…)
GAGNE: “Yes, but at the same time it’s still early. It’s only five games into the season. We like what we see, but we still have a lot of work to get where we want. It’s a tough league now to make the playoffs. We all know that, especially in the West. Right now we like the way we play but at the same time we still have a place for improvement. It’s a good start and we’ll take that, that’s for sure.’’
(on his game…)
GAGNE: “It was fun. It’s always fun when you’re able to chip in and score some goals. I had a couple of chances to get the hat trick at the end. I had two nice passes from my linemates, one by Willy [Justin Williams] and one by Kopi [Anze Kopitar]. I was not able to finish it but overall I was pretty happy with the first game at home.’’
