Game 4: Kings 3, Flyers 2 (FINAL, OT)

The road trip concludes tonight with the game at Wells Fargo Center. Bob Miller and Jim Fox have the call on Fox Sports West, while Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans are on 1150-AM and affiliates. All the game updates can be found here as well…

NOTE: Drew Doughty took only two shifts in the first period and left the game with an undisclosed “upper-body injury,” according to a Kings spokesman. Doughty took a big open-ice hit from Philadelphia’s Zic Rinaldo in the first minute and, according to the official stat sheet, returned for one shift but then was not on the bench after that. Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said the injury — not a head injury — will sideline Doughty for 7-10 days.

OVERTIME
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Bryzgalov.
Kings 3, Flyers 2: The Kings won the game with a power-play goal 1:39 into overtime. Mike Richards faked a shot, then fired a pass to Jack Johnson, who deflected the puck into the net.

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Bryzgalov.
Kings 2, Flyers 1: The Kings took a 2-1 lead with 7:25 remaining in the third period. Jack Johnson made a nice play at the blue line to keep the puck in the Flyers’ zone, then Anze Kopitar passed to Justin Williams, who went to the net. Williams’ backhand shot was saved, but Williams got the rebound and beat Bryzgalov.
Kings 2, Flyers 2: The Kings’ lead lasted only 64 seconds. Shortly after Williams’ goal, Mike Richards was called for hooking and the Flyers scored 27 seconds into the power play. After a scramble behind the Kings’ net, Matt Carle was left open in the middle of the left faceoff circle and scored with 6:31 remaining to make it a 2-2 game.
End of period: The Kings will get at least one point, and will be on the power play for the first 1:40 of overtime. Shots were 34-23 in favor of the Flyers in regulation.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Bryzgalov.
End of period: Shots were 12-7 in favor of the Flyers in the scoreless period. The Flyers will be on the power play for the first four seconds of the third period.

FIRST PERIOD
Note: Mike Richards was announced among the starters — to a mostly positive reaction — and took the opening faceoff.
In goal: It is the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Flyers’ Ilya Bryzgalov.
Flyers 1, Kings 0: The Kings killed a Flyers 5-on-3 power play that lasted 44 seconds, but the Flyers scored six seconds later. Jaromir Jagr slid the puck across the crease to Danny Briere, who one-timed it past Quick from close range to the left of the net, 2:30 into the game. Chris Pronger also got an assist.
Kings 1, Flyers 1: Just like the Flyers, the Kings failed to score on a 5-on-3 advantage, then scored a power play goal. Justin Williams took a pass from Simon Gagne and shot from the slot. The puck deflected off Bryzgalov’s left shoulder and into the net to tie the game 1-1 with 8:31 remaining in the first period. Willie Mitchell also got an assist.
End of period: The Kings survived a Philadelphia flurry in the closing minutes. Shots were 14-9 in favor of the Flyers in the first period. The Kings went 1-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
