First, and most importantly, a happy birthday to Hall of Fame announcer Bob Miller, who will be treated to dinner somewhere in New Jersey tonight.
After practice today, Terry Murray said Dustin Penner will be able to play tomorrow. The Kings are planning on a fourth line of Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis and Ethan Moreau, meaning Scott Parse and Kevin Westgarth come out. Jonathan Quick will start against the Devils. More updates to come, including the latest on Colin Fraser…
This is the best lineup TM can ice currently. Love that fourth line. The competition between Hunter and Parse for ice time should be good for the team and cause at least one of them to raise their game, you would think.

@Dave, but Hunter is RW and Parse is LW. so far, Parse went in for Pens and Westie went in for Hunter. I dont see the competition there…directly anyways

@tornado12, Moreau a left wing too, and Richardson a center playing LW.
Either way you skin that cat, Parse in the doghouse.

@Token,
Yeah, that’s true enough, Token. I don’t know if Parse has played all that well since he got hurt early last year. He’s got talent but right now he’s a depth guy. That’s about it.
Dave Reply:

@tornado12, Parse could play RW. The bottom six are all pretty interchangeable, so in a sense, they are all in competition for playing time.

@Paul G, I’m sure TM will move them around depending on who has the jump. I think the 12 best forwards will be dressed and that’s the most important thing.

We are quite fortunate with our announcers. We have Bob Miller for hockey and Vin Scully for baseball (as Tyler mentioned). We had Chick Hearn for basketball. And, in case you’ve never been to the track, we have Trevor Denman as our thoroughbred horseracing announcer. He is by far the best announcer for horseracing, and like Bob Miller, exudes excitement at the right time that gets you exciting for what’s coming.

@AliCali,
Love Trevor Denman’s calls. that Australian accent is perfect for calling races.
He’s a hell of a lot better than what we have in NY..Tom(I’ve never mised a meal at a banquet)Durkin.
I can honestly say NY has the worst announcers for all sports..with perhaps an exemption for Sam Rosen who calls the NYR games.

@Michael J.,
Favorite all time announcer…not even close! He was hilarious poking fun at himself.
He would be on his way home after the 7th inning to beat the traffic across the George Washington bridge…They would show the traffic camera’s from the bridge on the telecast and call out for him to waive!
I also remember a time he was doing filler stuff during a rain delay alone in the booth. Lightning and thunder hit and all you saw was him drop the microphone, let out a scream,and leave the booth..while the camera’s were still rolling.
There are a million of those stories…He and Bob Uecker were of the same mold.

They are very good. I’m a hiuge Yankees fan, but I actually watched their telecast during the Yankee-Mets inter-league series.
The Yankee announcers..especially Michael Kay may very well be the worst in all of sports.

Happy Brthday Mr. Miller!!! I must say that this would be my desired lineup for most games. I get the enforcer argument and the need for them in some situations but i would much rather have 4 lines that you can roll consistantly with size, grit and skill. Detroilet has done it for years with huge success. When your 4th line has Cliffy, Lewie, and Moreau you know things are looking good!

Bob, have a fantastic birthday. I’ll be expecting to say that for many more years to come. Couldn’t Imagine Kings PBP without you (Or Nick). It was a pleasure meeting you finally for the first time last year after 30+ years of being a fan. You were great with my son and I. We’re very lucky to have you (Jimmy too).
Have we ever had a 4th line in Kings history that looked that good on paper? I don’t think we’ve ever been this deep for that to be possible! Should be interesting.
