Penner status update, roster cuts coming

After the game, when asked about Dustin Penner’s status, and why he missed the game, Terry Murray paused, then said that he made the decision to scratch Penner in order to get another look at Dwight King. Before the game, a team spokesman said Penner “had an injury,” and that Murray would give an update after the game. So, we’ll see tomorrow.

Murray also said that he expected to make a couple roster cuts tonight, so hopefully those will be passed along fairly shortly…

TM injured DP to get another look at DK … Read between the lines! Jk

@Ari, That would be TM swinging away while Penner put his arm out and held him back by his forehead. TM could only hurt Penner if Penner slipped and TM hit him in the nuts.

Really happy for Hunter, Parse needs to get his confidence back in Manchester. I’ve been a Kings fan for 40+ years and I’m so happy that FINALLY we have players that actually belong on an NHL roster. For so many years our 3rd and 4th lines were glorified minor leaguers now our team is so stacked we have 5 or 6 guys ready and CAPABLE of excelling at the NHL level in Manchester that it seems so unreal that some are so good but our current players are still better. Thank you Dean and your staff for bringing together a team we can be proud to say are the L A Kings!! And for all of you still wanting to bash management, players and/or agents I say to you LET’S PLAY L A KINGS HOCKEY!! And of course pass the kool aid!!

@Play2Win, my first live game at the ol’ Fabulous Forum was way back in Jan. of ’75. As an 8 year old kid I instantly became a HUGE fan of Butchie, Rogie, and Hutchinson (for those who don’t know, ol’ #4 was our tough guy back then). I agree that it has been a LOOOOONG time since we had this kind of depth, if ever! Great job by the whole staff and by DL. We FINALLY have had stable ownership, AND management at the same time… Last thing, off subject… the year that Simmonds and Doughty played in the PHX vs LAK prospects game I went to see the games. I saw DL and went up to thank him, as a long time die-hard Kings fan, for doing things the right way. Finally. Build thru the draft, be patient, build from within… he looked at me like I was dog doo on the bottom of his shoe. Very disappointing… I know that he had a lot going on back then but would it have killed him to say “thanks for sticking with us since ’74-’75″ or whatever but noooo. So as much as I respect him I also think he’s kind of a jackhole… GO KINGS GO!!!

Hickey, Muzzin, Parse and King will be sent down. Although Muzzin is still injured so I’m not sure if the Kings can do that just yet.

I guess we will just have to the high scoring Willie Mitchell into Penner’s wing position.

King looked pretty good tonight, but he still seemed a little timid. He would be alot better if he would use that big body, it seemed there were a number of opportunities for him to use his size on the forecheck and with the puck but it looked like he was getting pushed around a little. That being said, he still has all the skills to be an effective player and makes good reads and passes, but he just needs to be more physical.

@ULVkingsfan, He did look pretty good. I actually thought he was physical. The only thing was he blew that beautiful set up from Richards when he couldn’t finish from in front ot the net.

@ta, yes, he had a wide open half of the net to slam it into and he wiffed… I thought he looked a little lost early on, but then seem to find his game…

one of the things I didn’t dig on was late in the 3rd (IIRC) Richards took a nasty shove into the boards awkwardly and he looked upset but no one came in to give a duck a push and the perp skated away unscathed… not good.

@furrylats, We’ve been complaining about that all summer.

    Stuart Reply:

@Dominick, and I’m also complaining because I just found out that we’re playing two home games on OLYMPIC size rinks… what’s with that??? If the miles don’t affect our boys’ play they’re going to have to play on the oversized rink and then adjust back to the regulare size? Nothing will be in our favor.

@furrylats, Maybe because they are gonna be played in AEG arenas?

  9. Parse can’t be cut tonight, he needs to go on waivers first if that is the plan

    King, Muzzin & Hickey tonight

@Kings win, Ducks lose, I thought Parse is exempt from waivers based off of games played over the past 2 seasons?

I was at the game last night and Penner was sitting about three rows up from me…In between periods I cruised up to get a brew and each time he walked up in front of me and he seemed to be walking fine. He didnt look injured to me, but what do I know.

Richards looked great to me, that was a sweet goal.
