Dean Lombardi — probably resting somewhere — has so far declined to talk about Drew Doughty’s new contract, but assistant GM Ron Hextall did talk about Doughty today. Also, for photographic proof that Doughty is, indeed, actually back, you can click here.

@wavesinair, Looks pretty strong to me. Little snap in his step. Maybe he has been working out hard this summer. Can’t wait to see how he looks in a game. Thanks for this Waves!

@Belexes, more importantly, is Voynov going to lose his locker spot?

@kings king, We didn’t tell them though that one of the tires has an injury. Needs a retread.

@Cynic, Just read on TSN that the stack of tires is retiring. Kings have announced they’ll sign the stack of tires for one day, ala Modano, so it can retire a King

Any chance Rich can interview Kopitar to see if Drew’s contract bothers him? Love to keep Kopi happy as well.

Just did some math. Doughty will NOT make more than Kopitar. Doughty’s deal escalates over time. His average for the first 5 years is $6.7 million which is when Kopitar’s contract is up. In the last 3 years it averages $7.5 million a year. Who knows? Maybe Kopi will be at $8 mill. then.
