The view from Kansas City

The Kings, last night, played their third preseason game in Kansas City in the last four years. Kansas City has tried to keep its name in discussions as a future NHL city — Sprint Center is owned by AEG, the Kings’ parent company — so how was the game received last night? Also, those of you who listened to the radio broadcast last night might have heard mention of the fact that almost nobody in the press box could see the clock, because it was being obstructed by arena speakers. The people at the arena were unfailingly friendly and helpful, but it was pretty astonishing that this was overlooked. So, during the first two periods, I walked down to the end of the press box, where the clock was visible, and noted the time for myself and for Nick and Daryl, who were sitting right behind/above me. The arena crew resolved the issue in the second intermission by putting the clock on an overhead monitor. Just some in-game stuff I thought folks might find interesting.
